On the eve of the Wisconsin primaries, top Republicans are becoming increasingly vocal about their long-held belief that Speaker Paul Ryan will wind up as the nominee, perhaps on the fourth ballot at a chaotic Cleveland convention.
One of the nations best-wired Republicans, with an enviable prediction record for this cycle, sees a 60 percent chance of a convention deadlock and a 90 percent chance that delegates turn to Ryan ergo, a 54 percent chance that Ryan, wholl start the third week of July as chairman of the Republican National Convention, will end it as the nominee.

Cut out the BS. Nobody here "likes" Hillary. You, in contrast, seem to have nothing but loyalty and love for anyone and anything, no matter how liberal, corrupt, and depraved, as long as there's an "R" next to his name.
As far as I care, it's a matter of complete indifference whether we get a crook, an idiot, or a liberal with an "R" next to his name or one with a "D." If you feel differently, and want to pretend that party loyalty is about "what's good for the country," be my guest.
It’s worse than that. The GOP leaders knew none of them could win the nomination so they used dopey Cruz to insure no one would win and they could choose who they wanted at the convention.
Most of the Cruz votes are anti-establishment votes. A reasonable fraction of these would go to Trump and give him the 1237 he needs for the nomination outright if Cruz weren't running in a race that (unlike Trump) he has 0 chance of winning. People are "going nuts" because the outcome of Cruz's candidacy will be to deny Trump the nomination, handing the RNC the brokered convention that it wants, and the nomination of Jeb, Paul, Mitt, or Marco.
If there was an actual chance that Cruz could get delegates he needed outright, he could at least say that he's running to win as opposed to running out of spite or in the RNC's service. Unfortunately, the latter two options are much more likely.
Remember the thrill when the teacher gave you a gold star to moisten the back [yuck! with your own spit] to put on the chart on the wall in your third grade classroom?
The thrill was short lived. Ethereal even. Same here. Good times.
The belief that Cruz will get the nomination on the second ballot if he does not get a majority of pledged delegates before the convention is completely wrong. This is something being spread by many who actually know better.
People are “going nuts” because the outcome of Cruz’s candidacy will be to deny Trump the nomination, handing the RNC the brokered convention that it wants, and the nomination of Jeb, Paul, Mitt, or Marco.

We were not talking about Cruz’s candidacy. We were talking about the second vote at a contested convention. You said that it doesn’t matter who the delegates support, because they will only vote how they are instructed by the RNC. So, the RNC will get to pick their own candidate on the second ballot.
I say that is a bunch of crap. Most of them will vote for candidate they support. I agree, some will be pressured, but lining up delegates that support you matters.
How about Santa Claus? Or Batman? They're qualified because the candidate that can unite the party after the GOPe steals the nomination doesn't exist.
I'm practical enough to vote for whatever turd sandwich they nominate because I will do anything to stop Hillary, but millions of Trump and Cruz supporters won't be so objective.
Even if they give it to Cruz he'll face an uphill fight against Hillary. He brings nothing new to the table that McCain and Romney didn't have, and that wasn't enough to win.
“Do you want a president who can work with scumbags?”
Trump has been dealing with Clinton, deBlasio, Unions, Reid, Pelosi and the leaders of Dubai for years.
Do we require a President who can only work with Angels?
“Good for them, now lets watch it all burn down in giant flames.”
Precisely what is going to happen. I don’t think the GOP cares as long as the corrupt status quo remains. Hillary is just fine with them.
Again, when mathematically eliminated MOST candidates drop out. Kay-SICK has refused to.
Cruz will be mathematically eliminated after NY or shortly thereafter. He should drop out, too.
I have no idea what point you are trying to make with that. It’s only evident to me you haven’t progressed much past the 2nd grade.
But thanks for playing!
CA....
No one is eliminated until someone gets the 1237.
Cruz should stay in, especially given all the Trumpista threats to support Hillary if Trump loses.
I sure don't want a bunch of Hillary supporters deciding the GOP nomination again,.
very true
“Trump has been dealing with Clinton, deBlasio, Unions, Reid, Pelosi and the leaders of Dubai for years.”
Didn’t you read my note? I said that Trump thinks he can get along with the demonrats, because he was able to when he was saying the right things and bribing them. I think even he will be aghast at the savagery with which they will turn on him.
“Do we require a President who can only work with Angels?”
We need a president who will destroy demons rather than work with them.
Apparently RaginRak has a liking for the liberal if he won’t vote for the opponent.
He demands a Christ like purity to his personal views or he won’t oppose hillary
You can be used by the GOPe without being part of it.
I’m beginning to believe that Cruz has been in the club all along. As has Rubio. Think about it. The “club” knows it’s dues paying members are pissed. So they run a man the members THINK is on their side. In the end they show their cards, and their “hand picked outsider candidate” is their ace in the hole, and they win again. And it only took two years to fool the people....AGAIN!
In four years they’ll find another Trojan horse to save their sorry butts. A third party, that may allow the democrats to win every seat, is the only way to destroy the gop. It would wipe it out. Then a real conservative party could start up. As I see it now, gop or Hillary, no difference.
“Trump has been dealing with Clinton, deBlasio, Unions, Reid, Pelosi and the leaders of Dubai for years.”
Yes he did work with a lot of GOP including Rafael. Fact is he donated more to GOP then Dems, but that does not help nominate the Establishment pick.
Don’t even get me started on how much Cruz’s law firm gave to the same list of people.
See my post above. Was Cruz volunteering to be hated by the establishment?
