Pepsi chief executive joins criticism of North Carolina law on LGBT rights

The chief executive of Pepsi, a company with roots in North Carolina, has written to Governor Pat McCrory to ask him to repeal a new law preventing specific anti-discrimination rules for LGBT people over public accommodations and restroom use.

In a letter hand delivered to McCrory on Friday, PepsiCo head Indra Nooyi called the law inconsistent with how her company treats its employees. Nooyi also said the law was undermining efforts to advance North Carolina’s interests, and she said she hoped McCrory would consider repealing the law when the state legislature reconvenes later this month.

The NCAA president, Mark Emmert, said he had spoken to McCrory about the law, making clear that if it remains in place it will affect the state’s chances to host major college athletic events.

The answer to the boycott would seem to be the BUYcott, but who’s stepping forth to promote traditionalism in NC?

If nobody steps up, nothing’s going to happen.

Yeah I can handle store brand soft drinks. I don’t really need to go to Taco Bell either

This ain't about principle. This is about organized pressure.

The buycott (spelled with a u as in u and me) can reverse the pressure.

I'd suggest that folks who press such legislative agendas in states think holistically. Prepare for the pressure. Prepare an advertising initiative: buy from the sane state of [whatever].

So basically Pepsi is giving the finger to the majority of North Carolina voters.

Also, a quick Google shows that Pepsi does sell their products in Saudi Arabia.

Pepsi should be ashamed that they have been forced to bow, and this is forced. They never thought they were in a competitive market did they? Coca-Cola has as yet to chime in... they’re very smart.

I live here. I pay taxes. I shop at Harris Teeter and Belk. I buy NC wine from time to time.

I honestly don’t know what else I could do to support the state.

Well we know what companies support confused mentally ill cross dressers sharing bathrooms with little girls and boys. We also know what companies are for big government forcing the homosexual agenda down religious person’s throats. no pun intended.

Hmm ... Let’s see if Pepsi makes LGBT “accommodated” restrooms in EVERY plant, EVERYWHERE, all around the world. Just guessing they won’t do that in OTHER countries that may have an objection to it.

RAMPANT hypocrisy.

Let’s watch.

What’s the difference? The CEO of PepsiCo gave the middle finger to the American people long ago.

FU PepsiCo.

I searched for soda pop and North Carolina and located a product called Cheerwine.

I don’t know if it is just a brand licensing deal now, but it might be worth considering.

They’ve been into other morally weird misadventures. I wonder if more demons prefer Pepsi to Coke?
