California and New York — where almost 1 in 5 Americans live — are on their way to raising their minimum wage to $15 an hour, and the activists who spearheaded those efforts are now setting their sights on other similarly liberal, Democratic-led states.
Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington are among the states with active “Fight for $15” efforts, and even economic experts who oppose the increased rate see it gaining momentum.
“There is lots of pressure to do this,” said Douglas Holtz-Eakin, a former Congressional Budget Office director who is now president of the conservative American Action Forum, which says big minimum-wage increases cost jobs. …

Make it $50 an hour if they really believe in their own crap. See what that does to the economy.
They cannot determine where “$15” came from; it is a purely arbitrary number divorced from economic reality, so why not $50?

As I’ve said, liberals’ policy is based on how it makes you feel. They don’t care that $15/hr minimum wage will cost jobs and cause inflation.
I am torn....as a minimum wage worker I would certainly love getting 15 bucks an hour, more money for school....However the rational thinking conservative side of my brain says how many jobs will be lost because of it... and mine with them since I work part time now at a McDonald’s in Pa, while currently in VA for school.
But few like to get fired.
I hope all the idiots enjoy their 10 hour work week.
For any minimum wage to work, it has to apply to the whole world.
Since that is not possible, the minimum wage in the US needs to be at zero.
I know liberals and the something-for-nothing crowd will argue this until they’re blue in the face, but tough cookies.
Before even one Civilian gets this raise, every serviceman and woman should get this rate. At this time, they make less than $9/hr.

The also poison the employer/employee relationship because the are basically saying "see, your greedy boss wouldn't give you a raise if it wasn't for your friends here in government making him do it."
