Jimmy Kimmels show aired a death threat against Donald Trump made by Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, a Trump staffer charged on CNN today.
Jimmy Kimmel To Ted Cruz: If he wasnt Ted Cruz, he probably would be reported and investigated by the Secret Service, Karen Giorno, identified by CNN as Trump campaign southeast regional director, told Jake Tapper.
It should offend every American. This is a presidential race, said the staffer of a GOP candidate who, two months earlier, boasted at a rally, I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldnt lose voters.
This is not a time to be joking about the front-runner and essentially running him over and causing him harm or death, Giorno continued.
Last night, Cruz made his first visit to Kimmels ABC late-night show. He followed a guest who had showed viewers how to scare a pal on April Fools Day by taping a photo of Donald Trump to the back of the pals car, covering the back-up camera. Said Cruz, when Kimmel asked if he liked President Obama or Trump better, If I were in my car and getting ready to reverse, and saw Donald in the backup camera, Im not confident which pedal Id push.
This afternoon, Cruz communications director Alice Stewart told Tapper, It was a joke, on a late-night comedy show, adding it was no surprise the Trump team is going to focus on this.
CNN contributor and GOP strategist Ana Navarro counseled Giorno that the country will not get through this election cycle that Trump has done so much to plunge into a cuckoo crazy phase without the help of humor and liquor, so lighten up.
This is not the kind of humor we want, responded Giorno. My candidate has Secret Service protection for a reason. There are people out there that are out to physically harm him, OK? So what were talking about, another presidential candidate talking about backing over him with a car thats not funny.

“... Cruz wanting to run over him.”
You are speaking out of ignorance. Best if you spend a bit of time watching the interview — IN CONTEXT — and then come back and comment.
The Trump campaign needs to lighten up. It was a joke. Everyone needs to try not take everything so personal. It’s all giving me a headache. SMH
I thought it was in poor taste when Cruz said it. I thought he should be trying to calm the waters rather than agitating them further.
Trump made no issue of Fields until she filed her charges. You are aware she falsely accused Alan West, possibly costing him his seat?
I know nothing about this woman Fields other than that we all know far more about her than she deserves. The whole incident was silly and stupid, and I cannot believe it has reached the level of discussion that it has.
Why is that story even news? So one of Trump's men grabbed her. So what?
It is, or ought to have been, a big nothing burger.
RE: Donald Trump Staffer on CNN: Ted Cruz Made Death Threat On Jimmy Kimmel Live
C’mon, if Trump can make a joke about shooting someone in the middle of fifth avenue or murdering someone without losing his supporters, why is Ted Cruz’s joke suddenly a “death threat”?
Cruz uses his smart ass mouth to trash others and if and when he gets trashed back-he plays victim. He is what we called a punk growing up.

These two are like 6th-8th grade punks.
He's an evil character. The stench following him gives credence to the thought.
Double standard. Did not Ted Cruz blame Trump for enciting violence but it is ok for him?
In context it’s a real knee slapper. Imagining the possibility of running over and likely killing a campaign rival. Jay Leno should have been so funny. What a laugh riot.
Histrionics run both ways with Cruz accusations that Trump did the NE story despite no proof and he continues to do so. At the rate things are going Hillary and Bernie will look good to voters. But it needs to stop from both campaigns.
Karl Rove and the GOP-s are smiling.
Throw stuff out and we will eat our own.
Even a blind hog could smell this one out.
Instead, both sides ignore the positives, but we jump all over nonsense like this, and we all know both sides are being foolish: Cruz trying to show the playful side he doesn't have, and Trump acting like a dumb throw away comment was a death threat.
Saying controversial or adversarial things is the quickest way to get attention this year. So far, that has been the ticket to success at the polls. It's hard to blame them both for acting stupidly when we reward them for it and ignore their common sense.
I don't want people to look at this picture a year from today and think it describes American voters. We have to make sure than the GOP candidate and the November winner are someone who opposes Amnesty, who will repeal Obamacare and make it unworkable until Congress sends a bill repealing it, and who values the Second Amendment verbatim. Trump and Cruz are the only viable choices that meet that standard, yet, as their supporters, we're on the road to destroying each other.
Trump should fire this cupcake and she should scramble to her “safe place”.
I know he meant it as a joke, sort of like when Trump said he could shoot someone on 5th Ave, yet all the Cruzers were jumping all over that one for days.
Stabby and Ted’s version of the Driver...
Man, humor like that doesn’t come along very often.
I wouldn’t be too worried about Ted threatening violence
He’s pretty soft
I doubt he’s ever busted a grape
But hide yer interns
“It sounds to me like Cruz is creating a culture of violent threats in his campaign.”
It’s really just a whey faced, jelly paunched, spaghetti arme nerd shyster trying to talk tough. Just check his military records. Oh, wait...
Cruznadians are about to hit their ceiling ...
