Let me begin with this. If the National Enquirer wrote a story about me cheating on my wife with five women, I had better be extremely definitive in my response; because if I’m not, my wife –smelling the guilt – would kick my ass.
OK, let me also tell you that I wouldn’t be angry; in fact, I’d be ecstatic. It’s fun to count money from guaranteed punitive and compensatory damages in a multimillion dollar lawsuit.
But that’s me. I can’t speak for Senator Ted Cruz except to say that so far his reaction seems —well, not exactly definitive.
He calls it “garbage and false,” not exactly a denial.,P> Then he plays the victim, calling it an attack on his family; “offensive to Heidi and me, they’re offensive to our daughters,” he writes.
Actually, it’s not an offense aimed at your wife or your daughters; it’s aimed at you, Senator.

If Cruz brought a suit against Nat Enq he could peel them like a grape in discovery so why does he? Okay just wants it to die down- then why not send a cease and desist letter demanding they stop saying they have more evidence?

Nope. The burden of proof for slander of a public official requires "actual malice". Since the accusations are innuendo and reports that people are discussing the possibility that . . ., Cruz would probably lose even if the reports are provably total fabrications. He would have to prove that the reports were known to be false and that the motive was malice, not just negligence or a desire to sell papers. That is a very high standard.

That was my point. The innuendo and attacks are being repeated just like those cases and with as little evidence. That is the goal of the flood of stories with no content.

Trump has denied having anything to do with the Enquirer piece. There is now plenty of evidence that clearly shows that this has been developing over a period of months and the Cruz campaign has been preparing for it. Yet you clowns keep blaming Trump? Cute but it is not going to fly and the whole thing is going to blow up in Raphael's smarmy little face.
