National Enquirer Cruz infidelity story could cost Trump a prominent supporter

Donald Trump has denied any connection to the National Enquirer story released yesterday claiming Ted Cruz has had 5 mistresses:

I have no idea whether or not the cover story about Ted Cruz in this week’s issue of the National Enquirer is true or not, but I had absolutely nothing to do with it, did not know about it, and have not, as yet, read it.

Likewise, I have nothing to do with the National Enquirer and unlike Lyin’ Ted Cruz I do not surround myself with political hacks and henchman and then pretend total innocence. Ted Cruz’s problem with the National Enquirer is his and his alone, and while they were right about O.J. Simpson, John Edwards, and many others, I certainly hope they are not right about Lyin’ Ted Cruz.

I look forward to spending the week in Wisconsin, winning the Republican nomination and ultimately the Presidency in order to Make America Great Again.

But that may not be enough for one of Trump’s earliest, most influential, and enthusiastic supporters, syndicated talk show host Michael Savage.

In a passionate 4-minute monologue, Savage said he had knowledge from a source he would “trust with my life” that the charges in the story were totally false. Savage also noted that he also has been attacked with innuendo over his entire career, and that “it is not pretty to live through this garbage.”

He stated that the Enquirer is run by a close friend of Trump, David Pecker, who flies on Trump’s plane, and that Pecker is behind the Cruz smear. He called on Trump to disavow the story and David Pecker, and threatened to withdraw his support if he doesn’t.

Setting aside the recent titillating affairs d’amor for a moment ... if Cruz doesn’t suspend his campaign (I suppose reserving his right to reappear at a GOP-engineered three-ring circus in Cleveland), after the point you mention when it is mathematically impossible for him to win, then it would be obvious to all—or at least to those wanting to appear at all reasonable—that at that point all he is is a GOP-e spoiler.

If he’s a GOP-e spoiler, then we’re led to a supposition bandied about here—he’s driven less by concern for beating Hillary and more by crass, personal ambition.

Cruz staying in at that point would also lend support to the belief held by many here that the Republican establishment is more concerned with preserving their power than beating the Democrats, and that they will try to keep it by any means possible.

This didn’t just start. Heidi has been putting up with Ted’s infidelity for a long time.

I’m finding that cruz supporters are just in denial.

At the start of this we all said cruz is not the establishment, but then we saw he is now since his campaign was getting beat.
Then the cruz voters ignored the mailing list, the Carson and Rubio are stepping down, the attacks on Trumps wife by his campaign manager and now this.

it does not matter it seems how may facts are out there tey are determined or stubborn to get the contested convention with the establishment.

It has been over since the south went for Trump.

Cruz will never get over 80% of the delegates left so why vote for the loser knowing it only helps the establishment.

I don’t know why cruz supporters will not wake up and it shows why these voters are placing the country in the hole when they refuse to see what is right in front of them.

Sadly, it seems most of our politicians are sleazy, at some level. I actually feel sick about. All of the states I've lived in have had multiple politicians at multiple levels indicted and/or go to jail. Yes, human beings are flawed, but it seems as though those with the biggest flaws are drawn to politics. It really has little or nothing to do with public service anymore. It is about being famous, powerful, rich, fulfilling some narcissistic need, or all of the above. The system is horribly broken, and in my heart of hearts I too frequently think there are few if any ways back.
