Married man Ted Cruz denounced a supermarket tabloid tale alleging his affairs with serial mistresses, blaming nemesis Donald Trump for planting the bogus report.
The Texas senator came out swinging Friday at both The Donald and the National Enquirer over a two-page spread that identified his quintet of lovers as "a hooker, a teacher & coworkers."
The prostitute was billed in the story as a "$1,000-a-night Washington call girl."
"I want to be crystal clear: these attacks are garbage, Cruz ranted on his Facebook page. For Donald J. Trump to enlist his friends at the National Enquirer and his political henchmen to do his bidding shows you that there is no low (where) Donald wont go."
At a campaign event, the son of a Texas preacher called the story charing him with multiple affairs as "complete and utter lies ... a tabloid smear."

And their 1st Amendment lawyer is David Kendall. Hmmm...who else does he do legal work for?
Absolutely the wrong approach for Cruz. He should have come clean - in fact, he has telegraphed in the past that he and his wife had had martial problems. He could have explained some of this away. Too late now.
As you know the source of it is Rubio camp and #theThing not Trump. But then when your guy has no chance of winning keeping throwing stuff to see what sticks.
According to Fox News poll.
The Trumptanic has sunk.
Favorable: 31%
Unfavorable: 65%
It is well known ... although fanatically denied by trumpers ... that Ted Cruz never went after Trump’s wife.
Trump is a pig and he will NEVER be president.
The suit would be against the National Enquirer. It has lost a few, and settled a few.
Ted is the one accused of infidelity.
He is the one to file the complaint if NE wrongly accused him
Trump has made his statement, and is encouraged to steer clear of this, and I think he will.
There have been rumors of this for a long time. Honestly hope it is false, but worry it is true.
Because a law suit during political season will go no where. Plus he wants to be President not the guy who sued NE.
Proof it’s Rubio?
So Cruz is saying that Trump made this whole story up and got the NE to report it?
He won’t bring a lawsuit.
People aren’t paying attention to what the article actually said.
It didn’t say that the National Enquirer’s famous investigative team discovered any evidence of anything.
When people say the National Enquirer has a good track record of doing investigation and uncovering evidence, it doesn’t apply here.
Because the National Enquirer isn’t saying that they independently found anything at all.
It doesn’t say they independently confirmed anything at all.
In communicating how strong their story was, they chose to make the weakest case. This gives them maximum protection legally also. They can run the story and if it doesn’t work out they can say their source just lied to them.
ONLY A SINGLE SOURCE is cited for all of the allegations.
It is an unnamed source who claims that unnamed detectives are investigating five unnamed women.
If a bunch of bimbos went to the National Enquirer and lied, and then the National Enquirer believed them... the bimbos don’t get sued, right? Only the paper?
Ted thinks this is coming from trump? He is dumber than I thought
But then Bill Clinton used to show that kind of outrage too
The Trump reply is very well crafted.
Than Sue Teddy, but you won’t...
It’s like “Oh, look at the rumor” then.
Cheap and cheesy, but what do you expect from a tabloid.
I don’t support hypocrites, period.
If you want to claim you are a Christian and make your religious devotion a plank of your campaign then people are justified in holding you to a higher standard. Sorry, not buying the BS of “Well, when Democrats do it no one cares” or “Trump has admitted to ‘blah blah blah”. No one told Cruz that he had to run on his religion.
When you set a higher standard for yourself and fail it is not a noble thing, it just makes you look like an ass and a hypocrite; if you are going banging other women while you are married and then proclaim your Christianity loudly all over the place you are doing MORE damage than just running on your policies.
I’m freaking tired of all the idiots trying to mitigate the severity of stuff like this (if it is true); someone who goes on and on about their religion had best walk the walk or not complain about the gleeful exploitation of their hypocrisy by their opponents. Yes, all men fail, but not all men run for a high office and utilize their supposed piety as a major cornerstone of their campaign.
Disprove it or shuffle off stage, Mr. Cruz. I’ll take a person who doesn’t proclaim their holiness loud and clear to someone who deigns to tell others what morality is while violating the tenants of same.
He did call the story complete and utter lies." Which seems an actual denial. Although not a specific Clintonian "I did not have sex with those women..." denial.
