Republican presidential Ted Cruz condemned Donald Trump for threatening to disclose unspecified information about his wife as he dismissed the GOP front-runner as a bully.
"She is used to dealing with bullies. Donald Trump doesn't scare Heidi remotely," Cruz told reporters in New York Wednesday, according to reports.
The Texas senator added that he believes Trump is looking to change the subject from his loss Tuesday night in Utah, as well as his controversial comments about reducing the amount America spends to boost NATO. ...
[The ad] prompted Trump to threaten on Twitter to "spill the beans" about Cruz's wife, with no further explanation. Cruz tweeted back bashing the threat, but he doubled down during the press appearance.
"That ad was completely inappropriate, and we had nothing to do with it," Cruz said.

Are we going to blame the media for not headlining his condemnation now? Is that going to be the next meme? Or are the Cruz bashers from yesterday going to admit their mistake?
Or no wait, I got it, calling the ad "inappropriate" isn't actually "condemning" the ad, right? That's the latest spin to use, now that you're caught in a lie, right?
He regrets the attack on Trump backfired you mean. That was inappropriate. LOL
Wrong.
Heidi decided to jump in to the fray because, you know, she’s the one actually running for President.
Then Trump double-downed with a photo of Mrs. Trump and Mrs. Cruz, and Ted had to jump in to stop it.
That, on top of Mitt Romney taking shots at Ivana, Marla, and Melania, made it much, much worse.
Noe he wants to disavow to make it stop.
I really don’t know why Ted and Heidi decided to go down this road. Trump is a street fighter.
And when did that PAC ad appear? Cruz did this YESTERDAY.
Cruz and his wife who says she is also running are just worried that some little ugly truths are getting ready to bust out.
“That ad was completely inappropriate, and we had nothing to do with it,” Cruz said.
After the caucus was over. Just like he apologized for Iowa, after the caucus was over. You ain’t fooling anyone DisgusTED.
Admit their mistake? Are you kidding? I'm betting the Trumpets will double down on their false allegations.
And read this bull that he added:
“The Texas senator added that he believes Trump is looking to change the subject from his loss Tuesday night in Utah, as well as his controversial comments about reducing the amount America spends to boost NATO. ... “
Did Cruz mention that he lost Arizona? I think he came in 3rd behind a guy named “other”.
And expecting our NATO “allies” to spend more for their own defense is controversial? To whom?
Thought you two in particular might be interested in this.
Tx, GGG, you two because of the drubbing you received yesterday defending Ted Cruz, and xzins, you because I believe you to be an honorable Trump supporter who is actually interested in truth over anything else.
Maybe Heidi can explain why Goldman Sachs the author of TARP pays her $800K a year? Must be very talented in addition to having a husband in the Sinate. Why did she get a big raise when he was elected?
Pray America wakes
If inappropriate is such a “strong” condemnation, then lets see him tell these PACs (that ted has absolutely nothing to do with at all...) to strip his name off anything and everything they use.
He’s walking back a storm he isnt ready for. I’ll send him a plastic trophy in the mail for his heroism.
Back when Cruz was criticized in the media for a campaign donation ad which feature Heidi and the girls, AS ONE VOICE there was condemnation of the media for criticizing the wife and kids. And that was in a situation where Cruz came very close to crossing a line.
And Romney's last nasty crack that Trump could get a US citizen wife? Well, Heidi couldn't get a US citizen husband.
Trump is a low class blowhard from NYC with NYC liberal values.
Of course it backfired. Utah is the porn capital, it has 2X the number of online porn subscribers as the average state.

Looking forward to Melania “spilling the beans” in five different languages
Thank you for your kind words, 47.
The PAC that ran the Melania pictures is “Make America Awesome”. It is connected to Red State. Red State is connected to Ted Cruz as a Cruz supporting PAC.
IIRC, candidates are not permitted by law to coordinate with PACs, so Cruz cannot claim to give instructions to that PAC, but he can condemn what they do.
Do I believe that PACs unofficially coordinate with candidates? Yes, I do. I always have. They occupy the same space, have the same interests, attend the same meetings, and probably even have leaders who know one another and have dinner, go to Church, etc. with each other.
We will never know if coordination took place on the Melania ad. It is impossible to know.
On the other hand, Trump knew this info was already out there, that someone would exploit it, and that it was wise to have a counter-attack planned.
I assume he is executing that plan.
Because YESTERDAY was the first time he heard about it because again, HE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT!

Heidi Cruz, the wife of GOP presidential contender Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)97% , deflected a threat by Donald Trump to spill the beans on her during a brief press conference in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
Well, as you probably know by now, most of the things that Donald Trump says have no basis in reality, Mrs. Cruz responded to a reporters question about Trumps tweet.
So we are not worried in the least and [we are] focusing on our campaign, and we are going to continue to do that, she said.
(snip)
What I think most women want is a better future for their children, and thats what I want and its why Ted and I are running, Mrs. Cruz added.
