Apparently, it's not enough that UND's administration is attacking the quality of education by cutting programs and experienced faculty and jacking class sizes. Now, we must also feel under physical attack as well.
I look up from my office computer to see two figures in camo with guns outside my window. My first thought is for my students' and my safety: I grab my phone, crawl under my desk and call 911. The dispatcher keeps me on the line until someone can see if ROTC is doing maneuvers.
I can barely talkfirst, with fear, and then with rage when the dispatcher reports back that yes, in fact, I've probably just seen ROTC cadets, though they're going to send an officer to check because no one has cleared it with them. They thank me for reporting it.
A few minutes later, a university officer calls me backnot to reassure me, but to scold me for calling 911. He says ROTC has permission to do this exercise. When I tell him that this was news to 911 and that they encouraged me to call whenever I see a gun on campus, he seems surprised.
He also tells me that ROTC will be doing these exercises for the next couple weeks.
So I reply that I guess I'll be calling 911 for the next couple weeksand I will. Every time.

See my post #20.
Oh look, a corporal, staring into the mirror, with a big grin on your face.
How unusual.
Really? Ever hear of the name Nidal Hasan? And at least one of the Columbine murderers wore camo.
The POINT is what is going to scare liberals on a college campus. And accepting the REALITIES of wannabe Rambos.
I appears that the desired level of feminist intellect is reached when one can write a piece using a bunch of bullsh_t words that sound intelligent but are in reality a load of psycho-babble.
Gotta bow out of this conversation. Maybe later when you’re not drunk-blogging non sequiturs. Although. I doubt that time will come.
e have to stop trauma, attiring our dear yutes.
traumatizing
Whiny busybody.
You shills are operating out of the same foul mouthed playbook. Or you're all just too stupid to understand that my Freepname stands for quality and not alcohol. Though I suppose when the height of your drinking decisions is "box versus screw top," that would be an impossible concept.
Yeah, leave.
Rest my case. You definitely need a change of handles. To . . . drum roll . . .
Non Sequitur
Quality? Um, no, alcohol-like symptoms of incoherence better describe your rants from your very first post on this thread.
Foul-mouthed? Go back to the posts in this ahem, conversation. The only name-calling came from you. Non Sequitur, you have rage issues.
Shills? Non Sequitur, what the heck are you talking about? Oh, never mind. Your new handle explains everything.
G’night.
Why because you can issue personal insults calmly?
You’re a paid mouth, and irrelevant.
I went to HS in South Dakota ans never heard of Grand Forks. It happens.
And my follow-up comment was that I am old and they still taught geography when I was in grade school. That's not a knock on the lack of knowledge, but a knock on modern education.
In the (somewhat edited) words of the immortal Gunnery Sergeant, "Lighten up, TangoLimaSierra!"
Maybe so, but you did not answer the question. Easy to take that the wrong way. You could have just said "North Dakota" instead.
I, too, had geography in school, probably about the time you did. And after this long I've forgotten a lot, like others.
I did, post #22.
Yes, I see you did. The second time he asked.
