The Trump-bashers are starting up a list of conservative supporters of Donald Trump so that they can blackball these Trump supporters.
The list was initiated by Cruz supporter Amanda Carpenter who is usually kind and intelligent but now suffers from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome.

“... (try reading the NT) ...”
You don’t consider that a bit condescending?
“... you are making politics your god.”
No. I am saying that God calls various people to be salt and light in various realms of society. Some are pastors, some are store clerks, some are state representatives, some are physicians, some are teachers. And so on. It is absolutely unbiblical to say that aspiring to become a state representative is an act of faithlessness.
Previously, Amanda Carpenter struck me as a nice individual, and most times, she seems to be. Why she’s on this tyrannical tear about Trump supporters, I have no idea.
It was offered as the 'evidence' that Cruz said something, which wasn't said in the video.
"I think a campaign bears responsibility for creating an environment, when the candidate urges supporters to engage in physical violenceto punch people in the face. The predictable consequence of that is that it escalates and today is unlikely to be the last such instance, Cruz said in a sorrowful tone...Who else was he talking about?!?!
ANYONE
Anyone at all, so long as they are a candidate.
"today is unlikely to be the last such instance." Someone, some time, some where will raise the crowd to a froth again and those either as part of that frenzy or a frenzy opposed to it will engage in violent acts. From 'Mark Antony at the Forum'(I fear I wrong the honorable men whose daggers have stabbed Caesar...) to the present day and beyond, this is the way things are. Regardless of when or where, the fundamental concept remains the same, doesn't it?
It is like gravity, or opaque objects casting a shadow in light, no matter when or where you encounter the phenomenon, the rule holds.
When you speak of principles or fundamental concepts, the principle or concept applies over a multitude of individual situations.
Yeah, apparently the shoe fit so well, that Trump supporters immediately had a global hissyfit, and the media did not hesitate to distort his comments to the point of taking half a headline in quotes and finishing it with the reporter's BS in one case.
It's great, because I got to make my own list--of news sources I won't train puppies over and websites which are meaningless drivel and a waste of electrons and blogs which write what the other blogs are blogging all without an original thought. It is quite extensive, and they are virtually all pro-Trump. (What a shocker!) I expect to save considerable time in the future.
Like I said, if the shoe fits, wear it.
IF you want to justify Carpenters hate list, fine.
I didn't justify Carpenter's hate list.
If you think I did, link and quote it.
It didn't happen.
Oh it was her own idea, but it is based on her loyalty to Cruz...not being a CNN employee.
Wait a minute.
If it was her own idea, how is that Cruz's fault?
Not any more than blaming Jodie Foster for Reagan getting shot (Because John Hinkley wanted a date with her)?
Nor for that matter the actions of people in the streets of Chicago being the responsibility of anyone but the people who are misbehaving. (which Cruz said.)
This isn't behaviour invited by Cruz, endorsed by Cruz, or sanctioned by Cruz. It is something done by another adult of their own volition.
We don't hang someone because their former employee decided to take up a new career as a horsethief.
What an incredible twist of logic that someone now working for an organization traditionally hostile to Republican candidates (CNN) is absolved, and a former employer is blamed when the person doing the dirty deed works for CNN!!
Have you forgotten the Clinton years? Decades of CNN fawning over the Clintons, hostility toward Bush, and sucking up to Obama go out the window. Their employee couldn't be doing this because she works for them. Oh no, it's because she used to work for a Republican?
Are you listening to yourself?
Hate lists...Such a conservative idea...just like trampling free speech which Cruz defendedjust like a woman wearing a short skirt deserves what she gets. Carpenter left the Cruz campaign on good terms...glowing comments about it...didnt leave because she opposed him or his campaign tactics and positions. She is not a liberal.
Oh? Well she damned sure is acting like one, now isn't she? Why did she leave?? For the money? For a steady job? Sold out principle for a paycheck?
I thought hate lists were speech, too? Or is free speech only for those you agree with? Now who is acting like a what?
CNN didnt force her to tweet that...
But someone she used to work for did? WTF?
People have to be paid to be an operative.
But you said, "...but yeah, I think she is an operative....", so which is it? Is she or isn't she? Maybe only her hairdresser knows for sure?
I think all former employment and affiliation should be disclosed by all networks...for all candidates...Cruz, Kasich and TRump...put it under their name with their other credentials which are often touted on the the tv as person is talking...Who is Carl Rove? How about Frank Luntz being Rubios personal opinion maker for years?...For years Stephanopolis has paraded as a journalist...Oh he is not double dipping, but he is a Clinton operative [Wait, I thought you had to get paid? which is it? Make up your mind, already!]...always framing discussions to reflect favorably on democrats in general, Hillary in particular. Heck, he was a Presidentialdebate moderator???? How impartial! LOL Frankly, I see no problem disclosing...I am shocked that you would.
Do I have a problem with that disclosure? Not only no, but Hell no. Disclose away. Record the scroll, because they are going to go by like credits from a movie, only faster, and they will be in fine print you'll need a magnifier to read on a 55 inch screen. Some of these people have longer resumes than the show. The more time spent spewing resumes the less time I have to listen to bs coming out of the TV.
But if you are going to do that, full disclosure of employment history for everyone! That could be interesting.
Would you be so hasty to use the same standards if she was a former Trump employee making up a 'hate list' on another candidate while working for CNN?
LOL! We KNOW the answer--otherwise, you would satisfy your self with the idea that people making up hate lists over any candidate is some off the wall stuff.
That wrong is wrong wherever, whenever it happens.
But that would bring you full circle, not just to situation ethics, but to a principle, where a concept applies to everyone/thing all the time. Which was what Cruz laid down in Chicago.
As for making lists, well, as far as I know, there is no law against making lists. We Conservatives even do that (from Companies to boycott because they used baby parts in their research, Vaccines which don't use baby parts in theirs, Pro-family (traditional family, that is) restaurants, down to 'things to do today'). Unless someone starts using that list as a guide to commit crimes, it is just a list.
But a list of people hostile to a candidate would sure save some time digging through a pile of resumes, wouldn't it?
Why I bet that Ms Carpenter is even on some sort of list (written or otherwise) of yours.
Been creeping through threads tonight. Just saw this one.
You said it well, from what little I know. I’m so ashamed of the Republican party these days.
We have snobby elite horse’s asses who attack their own. A blacklist? This is what the Republican party has become?
Cruz is not responsible for her behaviour. Agreed.
But I do think he should remind her not to stink him up with her lunatic behavior.
How would her behaviour stink him up if not for the flapping of lips over him being her former employer?
Just because someone who used to work for you takes up a new career as a horsethief, doesn't mean you should be the one to swing for it.
24 hours ago, I posted this to someone else—not you:
Lodi90 She is a former Cruz communications director and is now Cruzs CNN proxy.
Amanda Carpenter not only suffers from TCDS, she is a Cruz plant!’
I guess I should be flattered that you have delivered me another book to read...24 hours later you are still going on about this...You still defend Cruz comments...Fine...Whatever I disagreee with you...he meant Trump and you are a pretzel for trying to make his comments refer to anyone else...Sheesh what a waste of my time...and either you did not read much of what I said or you did not pay attention...because for example, I did advocate for full disclosure...I disagree with much of your logic... hate lists are free speech?
And like all Cruz supporters, in all your comments, you did not care about the Trump supporters missing a rally or their safety.
All you care about is your talking points and positions...
I get it...I should not have engaged you...You will say whatever is needed to attack a Trump supporter over a lousy one sentence comment not directed at you...Good for you...make it a marathon...Total waste because neither you nor I will ever see eye to eye.
Thanks Shortstop, your nice post is a breath of fresh air.
I have been taking crap for my position on this all thru the thread.
Yes, it is amazing the zeal with which the GOPe will go after an outsider they fear will upset the status quo...
Too bad they never direct their attention to going after the Democrats...
But then we have really had it confirmed to us that that the Democrats are not the political enemy of the GOPe...
Riiiight. Please be seated. Breathe deeply. Think happy thoughts...
BTW, when does a list become a "Hate List"?
Would lists of corporations which had done (and profit(ed)) from the use of fetal tissue (aborted baby parts) in research be a 'hate list'?
How about companies who were Gay-friendly, but not so much toward people in traditional 1 man 1 woman relationships?
Maybe a list of judges or candidates who support a particular bill/law/ruling?
Or is it just free speech when we do it, and not when 'they' do it?
As a matter of principle (oh, there is that word again) we really should decide on a universal definition of what is and isn't protected free expression under the First Amendment. What lists count? Lists where items get scratched off? (like a grocery list, a list of potential employees/employers, possible apartments?) Lists of people? (forget the wedding reception, and burn the list!) Or just lists written by people we don't agree with that have our name on it?
Frankly, I think the whole list thing is silly.
Nice kerfuffle. As for Ms Carpenter, She gets all that traffic from twitface and that means ratings in the 'new media'. Controversy is golden and sells ad space. And the more y'all howl about it, the better she does. Not bad for the new kid on CNN's block.
Really. Sell that soap.
CNN is hiring proxies for Conservative Republicans?
Riiiight. Please be seated. Breathe deeply. Think happy...
I replied to Lodi90....Lodi90 said CNN Cruz hiring proxy...not me...
Lodi90 She is a former Cruz communications director and is now Cruzs CNN proxy.
Me:
Money quote! I wonder why this fact was not mentioned in the article?!?!
Amanda Carpenter not only suffers from TCDS, she is a Cruz plant!
Now it has been nearly 26 hours for less than 2 lines of a comment not addressed to you...No changing you or me...You done yet?!?!? I am!!!!!
Well, have a nice day and bless your heart. You and I agree on one thing. We aren’t likely to change each others’ minds.
All of this hate talk coming from the conservatives (which I have considered myself one since going into the military in the early 70s) but at the same time offering no other alternatives. Cruz is conservative but the establishment doesn’t like him either. Who do they want as “their” conservative candidate? Jeb Bush failed, Marco Rubio melted. Now what, last place Kasich? Or slip two-time loser (Romney) in there at the convention or Paul “Son of a Boner” Ryan? Come on, get serious. None of the GOP candidates put forth by the GOP in my voting lifetime, have ever been conservative. The Republicans who did win, were either not real conservative (Bush) or the establishment didn’t like them because the candidate was not one of their own (Reagan).
The big mucky-mucks who apparently control all of this, should stop their embarrassing hissy-fit over Trump being the GOP frontrunner and embrace him and his campaign. Open their “big tent” to the new voters Trump has attracted and rally behind him to defeat the enemy, Hillary Clinton in November.
What Amanda Carpenter and her ilk are doing, is telling me and other Trump supporters and voters, that we are scum, not worthy of their respect, because we voted for Trump. I, for one, am sick and tired of following the party-line as a conservative, believing that if I voted for their guy, that we would take the White House and things would change. They never have and never will. I will never, ever, ever, vote Republican again, if these elite sh*ts change the rules at the convention, replace the front-runner with a weaker faux-conservative and disenfranchise my vote for Trump.
I like conservatism but every time a real conservative is up for vote, they lose. My rule is “50% of something is better than 100% of nothing.” I’d rather have a part of a conservative in Trump in the White House than I would voting for another GOPe candidate “conservative” who loses.
“Except Cruzs brand is not standard Evangelical theology, its fringe and frankly makes us look bad.”
Again, Cruz is NOT running to be preacher in chief or national prophet. Also, I have looked at the statements of faith at the church he is currently a member of, as well as the one he grew up in. They are standard, boiler template documents.
Trump has a theology that does not require asking or seeking forgiveness from God to be a Christian.
Mitt Romney has a long list of erroneous, doctrinal beliefs.
Obama claims to be Christian while defending and promoting Islam. He calls Jesus Lord in one breath and then advocates the murder of babies.
If your criteria for president is to agree with your doctrinal views, you will probably have little influence with your vote. The majority of people are going to treat the issue as of little consequence. And not enough people are going to share your doctrinal views to make a difference. The fact is that a person with a different view on many doctrinal issues can still represent us when it comes to the jurisdiction of his or her office. Neither Cruz nor Trump, nor any other candidate will have the authority as president to dictate your or my beliefs. And regardless of whether they are even true Christians, they can agree on issues like tax, trade, immigration, abortion, AND religious freedom.
I have never met any two Christians who agree on everything 100% of the time. There are minor differences of opinion and major ones.
And I will say again what I have said many times about the supposed “dominionist” issue. There is no conspiracy of Christian “dominionists” trying to take over the world for Jesus. Those who claim this are either utterly nuts and belong in the same category as lizard people conspiracy theorists, or they are diabolically hateful toward Christianity with its imperative to be salt and light in a fallen world.
If you think Ted Cruz is off on his biblical theology, you should not invite him to your church to preach. If you think it should bar him from the white house or politics, you have a far greater theological problem than he does.
You are also concerned about being made to “look bad”. Sorry, but the same people who hate Cruz also hate Evangelicals, and they hate basic Christianity. You are not going to impress, please, or make these people like you as a follower of Jesus Christ. The hail-Satan left and Planned Parenthood hate Cruz. That is a good sign to me.
