Religion is dying out in America: Just 18% of people 60 and younger attend church
Daily Mail ^ | 17 March 2016 | Cheyenne MacDonald

Around the world, people are beginning to turn their backs on religion.

For some time, researchers have observed this trend as it ripples through developed countries, with the United States standing out as the exception.

Now, a new study reveals this is no longer the case; with each passing generation, Americans too are steadily becoming less religious.

--snip--

Researchers found each generation is subsequently less religious than the one before.

In one example, the team found that 41 percent of people aged 70 and older reported they attend church services at least once a month.

For people just under that age bracket, 60 and younger, only 18 percent attend church at this frequency.

And, just 45 percent of people ages 18-30 reported they have 'no doubt God exists,' compared with 68 percent of those 65 and older who said the same.

'The US has long been considered an exception to the modern claim that religion is declining,' said Mark Chaves, the study’s other co-author, and a professor of sociology, divinity, and religion at Duke.

'But if you look at the trajectory, and the generational dynamic that is producing the trajectory, we may not be an exception after all.'

The researchers say the data remains consistent over time, reflecting the trend seen elsewhere in the world.

You are missing out on the fellowship and praise and worship of the Lord that church attendance provides. And if you don’t tithe you are robbing God.

In this liberal area of California our churches are pretty packed.

Unfortunately for many the end will be burning in hell for eternity.

Do you ever wonder why people don’t like Evangelicals?

That, right there in your post.

I don’t give a goddamn about you views on religion. Please do not preach to me. Find another corner to set up shop.

I do miss the sense of fellowship sometimes. I do not miss many of the people.

I give in ways that I believe please the Lord. I do not do it through a church. God is not being robbed.

I appreciate you concern, but I do not need to be "fixed" in regards to church attendance.

In these parts the Orthodox Churches are swarming with children and young families.

The parents want an uncompromised and undiluted faith.

Agree. When the church accepts the world’s values, why bother ? ....

The pastors and priests don't teach enough Hell.

Fire and Brimstone is completely gone from sermons.

So the two-fold effect is: People do more rotten things with impunity; and they stop being religious at all.

Why bother with religion if everybody is going to go to Heaven anyway?

You are right, it doesnt mean saving faith or being saved.

But there is benefit to going to church. We are not meant to be solitary believers. Plus God is deserving of formal worship. Imagine some places people want to go but there are no churches, or theyd be kiled for worshipping publicly. Here we take it for granted.

sodomite/abortion supporting churches are dying.

Some of them advertise their "open-mindedness". Why would you say they are dying out? There is always a market for sin.

Of the 18% who go to church, 99% of those go to the wrong church.

If one finds the right church, he can’t wait to be there when the doors open, three times a week in most cases. If he is in a wrong church, he dreads seeing Sunday come.

Make Religion Great Again!

99% of western churches can be traced back to Constantines twisted version of the faith once delivered to the Saints.

Even the most revered churchianity holidays are traced back to pagan holy days.

Sunday, or Day of the Sun is a simple start for those that still prefer to play religion not realizing that 99% of the churches here in the west are just a different spin off of the catholic church...steeped in paganism.

**In the United States, this drop has been very gradual, making it difficult for scientists to detect due to lack of data.

The decline, they found, has occurred generationally.**

Hmmm. Part of this article is not true.

I think it is a general statement, not particular to the path of any specific denomination. The Protestants and Catholics have had different trajectories.
