Thursday on Fox News Channels Fox & Friends, Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) 45% explained his decision to meet with President Barack Obamas nomination to fill the Supreme Court vacancy, Judge Merrick Garland.
Flake acknowledged GOP senators were doing the proper thing to put off any action on Obamas pick, but added that in the event Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton should be elected president, Garland should be given consideration.
I think that Republicans are doing the right thing, Flake said. Were fully justified in saying, Lets wait until after the election to actually nominate someday or approve the presidents nomination. But I said yesterday that if Republicans are not successful in the November election I hope we are but if we are not, then we ought to look at this nomination in the lame-duck session in November. I would rather have a less-liberal nominee like Merrick Garland than a nominee that Hillary Clinton if she were president would put forward.
Ive said from the very beginning that I would meet with him, but let me say, I hold the position that Republicans are justified justified in doing what were doing before the election, Flake added.

Preemptive surrender. What a manly trait.
I wonder how much of the crap going on behind the scenes with the GOPe is actually the Mormon cult being involved.
I know around NV and Utah and the eastern part of AZ, you cant get anything done without greasing the palms of the boys from Salt Lake.
FLAKE
I can hear this bum’s knees knocking now. But this is great pre-primary talk as it will only help Trump win Az’s 58 delegates if he gets just 10 from Utah Trump’s new GT = 755. How does St. Ted stay in then?
Willing to bet every Senator pulling for Obama pick is a safe seat. These people are hopeless. One thing for sure, they can’t blame the Republican nominee for losing seats, they did that all on their own.
If that were actually the choice, I’d have to agree. Obama felt constrained to nominate someone who at least qualifies to be a Justice in terms of legal expertise and background and who may not be a rabid Marxist on every single issue to come before the Court. He wanted to place a “moderate” liberal before the Senate as a wedge against Republicans for denying hearings or a vote on someone so “mainstream”. They will be pummeling the Republicans with this for months.
OTOH, if Hillary makes that pick early in her regime, she will not have any compunction about nominating another Kagan, Sotomayor or worse.
Flake is good at undermining....,..after a ride on Air Force One, he decided he COULD VOTE FOR the Iran deal. He ended up voting against, but I suspect his office was flooded with angry calls. Flake is just another political narcissist......doing what’s politically expedient for himself. He wants to be loved and if it is the Dems doing the loving, it’s ok with him. McCain won’t weigh in.....he’s up for reelection this year (after promising that 2010 would be his last campaign). With all the illegals flooding (and voting in) Arizona, I wonder how long Republicans in Arizona can expect to have a real Conservative representing them.
Merrick Garland was Jamie Gorelicks principal deputy at the Clinton Justice dept.
If Arizonans can not dump Flake and McCain...they and the nation will become the victim of the “law of unintended consequences” and the Republic will be gone.

With RINO Senators like McFlake, no wonder Trump is favored to win Arizona.
He’s poking another stick in our eyes
No such thing as less liberal, liberal is a radical belief structure.
I am asking this in all sincerity and not as anything joking or sarcastic. Unless I am missing something what Flake is saying makes sense to me. When the future is uncertain president wise it only makes sense to look at what options are on the table. We do it all the time in our personal/professional life when we see trouble on the horizon and often have to choose between the lesser of two evils.
So if someone could explain where the problem lies because I want to understand from all sides.
Sorry, but Merrick is a disciple of Will Brennan, the real author of Roe, V. Wade.
His position gives cover for endangered Republican senators, thus helps retain the Senate.
I didn't know that: thought they were concentrated on their private planets.
So true, but the American people don't know that.
How about NEITHER gets confirmed
D’ oh!
no wonder the nation is on its last legs as long as the GOPe keeps giving it and its principles away.
