Simply put, there's a social divide between Trump fans and not-Trump fans, as my colleague Ron Brownstein has noted.
Rubio supporters (and voters for other not-Trump candidates) are disproportionately college-educated, longtime GOP voters. Trump voters are disproportionately blue-collar (which, in practice, sometimes means no collar, plus tattoos), and some said they'd never voted in a GOP primary before.
Some weren't Republicans at all. I'm an independent, said Richard Patronik, 67, of Coral Springs. I can't vote in the primary. But I'd vote for Trump if I could. Trump isn't the only one at fault for the violence at his rallies
Even before election day, Florida officials were reporting that the turnout for early and absentee voting was up sharply over earlier years. And already, Trump is using his impact on primary turnout as a selling point, arguing that if he's the nominee, he'll be able to draw more voters to the polls in November.

Trump is not a “Republican thing”, it’s American common sense.
I know a west side lefty who loves Trump.
He loves Bernie, giving Bernie money.
Hates Hillary.
Says he’d like a Trump-Bernie ticket if Hillary got the Democrat nomination.
For once the LA Times isn’t lying.
But I was told by some totally trustworthy MSM polls that Trump is doomed in the general election and literally anyone else (sticking with the usual formula of failure that will surely work THIS time) was a better option.
There are many, many well educated successful business people and affluent, well informed voters who are 100% for Donald Trump...Trump has touched every aspect of America and earned their vote and respect for his nonpolitical stance and refreshing common sense that he displays...The “professional politicians” and the media STILL don’t know how to “handle” Trump and they never will...
Meanwhile, we have mounting evidence that Hildebeast may collapse (physically) by Labor Day.
This is not surprising. Where I work there are quite a few blue collar union workers that love Trump.
But Rubes was the ONE exception. Trump vs. every other candidate wins the “college” and “some college” categories, but they always bury that.
Politics is too serious to leave it in the hands of the donor and consultant class.
In reality, Trump has made politics fun again and people love it. He knows how to put on a good show for the crowds.
No one else can do that and it drives the GOP establishment and the Left rabid with fear.
The guy’s gonna go a long way and look at all the political titans he’s toppled in his path.
How magnanimous...
just anecdotal but here in California, the Trump stickers have seen we’re always on work trucks... the Bernie stickers are always on either very expensive cars or little Electric boxes
That’s exactly what happened here in GA.
My precinct and suburb went overwhelmingly for Rubio, as did a number of other affluent traditional Republican areas (think Newt’s old GA 6th District). Trump won the state with a strong plurality, however.
Fringe? It’s a major portion of the party. The author is a retard who could not retain credibility beyond the title of the article.
I have a Master's Degree in Biology as well as a degree in Medical Technology and have been teaching both in our local Community College for over 30 years. I proudly voted early in NC for Donald Trump!
This could be real crossover support, or it could be Democrats crossing over to prolong the fight and try to give us what they see s the weakest nominee.
Says it all!
MSM likes to promote the ‘college educated’ attribute, which is a look down the nose for those not so educated, but ‘college education’ is nothing more than advanced liberal/Marxist propaganda. It’s why it’s pushed so hard - it creates Democrats just like illegal immigration is only unregistered Democrats.
In 2010 and 2014 they lost big time. So they need new blood - college and amnesty is their ‘solution’. And pre-school to 12 is ‘prep school’ for the advanced propaganda in college.
You’re telling me, a history professor.
