On Wednesday, President Barack Obama nominated Judge Merrick Garland to replace the late Justice Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court. Here are five quick facts you need to know about Garland.

6 . just another old white anti American liberal
December 19, 2001 The American Prospect listed Merrick Garland as a First Tier pick for SCOTUS should Al Gore be President

Well its not really that important because the Senate is not even going to hold confirmation hearings on the guy. Its just Barky trying to stir up the chit.
Garland apparently aligns with that knee-jerk liberal Kagan.
If Conservatives were smart.....they would start a “too many Jews” thing over at DU.
Good hair (for his age) and of course Harvard Law.
THE BIG DISQUALIFIER FOR ME:
Garland is considered anti-Second Amendment.
As the National Review noted last week: Back in 2007, Judge Garland voted to undo a D.C. Circuit court decision striking down one of the most restrictive gun laws in the nation and voted to uphold an illegal Clinton-era regulation that created an improvised gun registration requirement. Obama will use his pick to pursue a gun control agenda.
He picked a guy 61?
I already know enough. He was nominated by Obama.
Tied at the hip to Jamie Gorelick.
“I already know enough. He was nominated by Obama”
Yep, when he mocked those that “cling to guns and Bibles” I went out and bought more ammo and weapons.............I am also now proudly a Born Again Christian. Whatever Obama says I go 180 out, it’s been the right way to go every single time.
He passes the religious test now required for the Supreme Court. He isn’t a Protestant.
I think this may be a trap. Garland, liberal as he is, is considered more “moderate” than the other two reported finalists (Sri Srinavasan and Paul Watford.) That old Establishment bull Orrin Hatch has called him the best we can expect from 0bama.
Now, one of two things will happen. either the Republicans will cave and give 0bama his nominee, or they will not confirm him.
If he’s confirmed, even though he may not be the left’s idea of the perfect justice, he certainly would move the court far to the left of where it was with Justice Scalia.
If they defeat him, 0bama hopes to get someone more radical onto the court via “confirmation fatigue”. (That’s how we got Anthony Kennedy.)
The best thing to do is probably just slow-walk the process so that Garland doesn’t get anywhere near confirmation but 0bama doesn’t get an opportunity to make a “replacement” nominee.
I only wish I trusted the Republican leadership to do tha.
Or a third option. Draw it out with recesses (short enough to prevent a recess appointment), protracted hearings in the Judiciary Committee, with a LONG period for research before holding any hearings, and let it run on past the election so that he can’t put another nominee up.
Congrats on your SALVATION my Brother ! Hang tough, it’s rough from time to time ! Again, welcome to His Kingdom !
Snoot ;o)
BORK, BORK, BORK, BORK him!!!
Garland went to Harvard.
The prosecution rests.
