Boehner endorses Paul Ryan for President

Former House Speaker John Boehner Wednesday endorsed current House Speaker Paul Ryan to be the Republican presidential nominee.

At the Republican convention, “anybody can be nominated,” Boehner said at a conference in Boca Raton, Fla.

“If we don’t have a nominee who can win on the first ballot, I’m for none of the above,” Boehner said. "They all had a chance to win. None of them won. So I’m for none of the above. I’m for Paul Ryan to be our nominee.”

Over the last few months, Boehner has privately said that he thought Ryan would be a good candidate to heal a fractured party. The former speaker — who splits his time between Florida, Ohio and D.C. — has said in casual conversations that he thinks Ryan would be a good option if the party has not coalesced around a GOP candidate before the convention. Ryan's staff has recoiled at the notion, saying it was an "incredibly remote scenario," and the "speaker has no interest in it."

CORRECTION:: Good luck getting Trump to roll over and accept this.

cRuz would be fine, as long as his TPA OP-ED cowriter, Lyin Ryan promised him some sort of a piece of the pie.

I bet you that Paul Ryan actually did want to run for president. That Romney actually did want to run for president...

The donor class picked Jeb.

It’s a wonder they sobered him up enough for a quote.

When this jerk was elected to speaker, pick one of the two mentioned, I was beyond annoyed. They both show their GOPe colors everyday.

First order of business in the new house, elect a new speaker, pronto. If they dump both Trump and Cruz, let it be pelosi.

The best think that could happen to Boehner, IMO, would be for him to drown in his next double.

“As if we needed MORE evidence of a corrupt GOPe that needs to be destroyed by Trump.”

What you said!

Paul Ryan should prepare himself to be MINORITY leader in the House, because that’s what he’ll get if Trump supporters are disinfranchised and stay home.

As I recall, The Speaker Ryan had no interest in being Speaker either, until he was.

Ryan made a lousy VP candidate; he won’t do any better as a presidential candidate.

The amazing thing is how Boehner assumes a scenario where Trump and Cruz both have 1000-1100 delegates, neither is on first ballot and those delegates become free to vote for Paul Ryan (or Romney or whoever) ends well for the Republican party. It’s like they’re thinking “It doesn’t matter how we get our nominee on the ballot as long as our nominee is on the ballot. Once that happens, everything will go back to how it’s supposed to be.”

But there’s no going back from screwing over 65%ish of the party. This is the kind of thing that extinguishes political parties for good.

I feel much the same way but he had a chance to defeat Trump in the South and he did not do it. Cruz cannot win a majority now so he is only in it to stop Trump from getting a majority at the convention. If he continues he is only doing the bidding of the GOPe. He begins to lose all credibility like Yeb!, and Marco.

Cruz needs to make peace, drop out and work with Trump to totally upend the Republican establishment. If he wants to have sore feeling and make sure the first outsider with a chance to become President in over a hundred years loses then he can fall on his sword and continue on his current path.

Quote:

“Not gonna happen. Boehner was probably drunk when he said it.”

From what I heard from the GOPe shills on TV last(Dana PeRino, Amanda Carpenter, et al)the GOPe has every intention of doing whatever it takes to keep Trump from the nomination. They are planning a convention fight “just like the Republicans used to do 6 elections ago.” - Dana PeRino.

You’re vote doesn’t count. It never did.

That’s the ticket. Sure winner like 08 & 12.

That decision will also lose the house & senate and allow her majesty to nominate at least 2 Supreme Court Justices.

Life as we knew it will be changed.
