Ted Cruz: Donald Trump sees protesters as disloyal people who must be punished
Washington Times ^ | March 14, 2016 | David Sherfinski

Posted on 03/14/2016 10:13:32 AM PDT by Pinkbell

Sen. Ted Cruz said Monday that GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump views protesters as disloyal people worthy of punishment and that the best response to Mr. Trump is to defeat him at the ballot box, reiterating his own pledge to support the eventual Republican nominee in the fall.

Mr. Cruz re-upped criticism of Mr. Trump for recently having rally attendees pledge their support to him, likening it to an action kings and queens demand of their subjects.

“It’s also reflected in his treatment of protesters, where anyone who’s a protester is disloyal and must be punished,” Mr. Cruz told reporters in Illinois ahead of the March 15 primary there.

“The only pledge that I am interested in, the only hand-raising that I’m interested in is on January 20, 2017, when I hope to raise my right hand with my left hand on the Bible and pledge to each and every one of you that I will preserve, protect [and] defend the Constitution and fight for the hard-working taxpayers,” Mr. Cruz said.

“That is a question the voters are asking: At what point do we say ‘enough is enough?’ ” Mr. Cruz said. “If Donald Trump is the nominee, he is a disaster, and the answer is to beat him.”

“Did anyone notice that Cruz is NOT talking about the stupidity in Chicago in this article?”

So what? He’s still talking stupidity.

“The problem is this article proves nothing except that Cruz will still support whoever the nominee ends up being after July.”

We know who he supports and who he stands with.

Yes he was. I believe Ted is a sociopath. Utterly without conscience, conviction, an opportunist of the highest order, no friends and a calculating persona. All hallmarks of a sociopath. He can be whatever you want him to be. He had unbridled ambition and lived in TX. So the path to power was to be a Republican. Ted correctly read the tea leaves and figured out that being a very conservative Republican would get him a following, advance the narrative that he was an outsider and pave the way for a run for the Presidency. Useful idiots like Rush, Levin, Hannity all helped in that regard. But Ted was covering all his bases. Playing ball with Mitch in 2014, screwing over conservatives that cycle, McDaniel in particular. Ted was a wolf in sheep’s clothing, or as I call him, Senator Palpatine Cruz.

They are not protesters, they are paid professional agitators.

Sen. Ted Cruz said Monday that GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump views protesters as disloyal people worthy of punishment

They are ILLEGAL when they're disrupting a legitimate program in a rented facility.

You are considered the culprit when you incite someone. You can't claim innocence if they retaliate.

It depends on what the meaning of “is” is. You can try to make a lawyerly dodge here but everybody with a brain knows EXACTLY what Cruz is talking about here. That Cruz continues to try to score political points off of assaulted conservatives is despicable.

Be fair, it’s Cruz’s only chance now, he has no choice but to double-down on the anti-Trump rhetoric.

No kidding. That’s true of all the Republicans. That makes their Trump bashing all the nuttier. Trump is getting it because he’s the richest target right now.

They were not protestors standing outside the event holding signs. They were infiltrators trying to disrupt the event. They should be arrested.
