Trump's Closing Pitch In The Rust Belt: Your Factories Are Moving To Mexico, John Kasich Voted For NAFTA And Supports TPP.

Almost every time Donald Trump mentioned free trade or protecting American workers from low-paid foreign competition this weekend in Illinois and Ohio, he was interrupted by protesters.

-snip-

"Right here [in Cleveland]," Trump said Saturday. "We've got on the left, you have Ford, the Ford Foundry," Trump said. "And that's moving to Mexico. And on the right you have Eaton. And that's moving to Mexico."

"It is crazy, what we're doing to our country is crazy... I'm a conservative person, but I'm in theory not so conservative on trade," he said. "Any direction I can point to, you're losing jobs, you're losing your plants. We're not going to let it happen any more."

"But your governor, I don't know if you know this, this is a tremendous problem. Your governor when he was a congressman voted for NAFTA," he said about his main opponent in the Ohio primary: Gov. John Kasich. "He's now in favor of the Trans-Pacific Partnership. It is a disaster. It is going to ruin your car industry, totally ruin it, and believe me, that deal is very bad for a lot of reasons."

"I’ll be voting for Kasich on Tuesday in Ohio."

So you are for NAFTA? Thanks a lot. While I lost my job because of NAFTA you sit in Ohio, comfortable in the wealth of Ohio's new-found oil resources. The tax revenue from that has kept Ohio in the black while Kasich has raised state spending, including a $2.5 billion sales-tax hike. You are someone who does not know which side of one's bread is buttered.

You’re voting for someone with even less common sense than Hillary. A vote for Kasich is a vote for the protesters who assaulted peaceful Trump supporters in Chicago and a vote for throwing bricks at police officers. Kasich can blame Trump and not the liberal loonies who did this.

What can I say....American. And Americans love the underdog, while not quite Trump in the polls, certainly in everything else right now.

Trump made a lot of sense today at the Rally in Cleveland. Free Trade advocate he is...he is also more about a level playing field. While saying he’ll tax companies 35% to reimport their goods is a pipedream statement, getting that down to 10% is more than we have now! China getting 550 billion from us....like they need it at all!

Yeah, he hit all the targets in the “rust belt,” now we need to get his plan out to everyone else!

“I’m a major proponent of Free Trade, but true free trade is totally non existent in todays world.

Free trade requires hard ball political leaders who demand and enforce a level playing field.”

BINGO. The times where there was true “free trade” was when Britain, in the 1800s, and the US, in the early 20th century, could impose true free markets anywhere. You HAD to let in British, then American, goods. Once on the shelf, it’s up to anyone else to buy or not, but it’s not free trade if by regulation or tariffs you keep goods out.

And by the way, Washington and Hamilton and Jefferson and Madison were NOT free traders. They all believed in tariffs, some more than others, but all accepted tariffs for key American industries.

NAFTA was a great deal. We sent Mexico thousands of jobs and they sent us thousands of unemployed, poor, uneducated Mexican’s. Helluva deal..it was supposed to help end illegal immigration, but it didn’t seem to work.
So we have a few million illegal mexicans stealing jobs in the US and they are sending $25B a year back to Mexico. Plus we get the pleasure of paying for their kids schooling, Food stamps, and EITC. HELLUVA DEAL.
