Republican lawmakers in Kansas, weary of conflicts with a judiciary that has been pushing for more school spending, are beginning to act on a measure to expand the legal grounds for impeaching judges.
The move is part of an intensified effort in red states to reshape courts still dominated by moderate judges from earlier administrations.
A committee in the GOP-controlled Senate plans to vote Tuesday on a bill that would make attempting to usurp the power of the Legislature or the executive branch grounds for impeachment.

Can’t have those judges enforcing school funding.
Does the legislature have the power of spending delegated to it within the State Constitution?
Why bother to vote if a judge can set spending and tax policy?
That post sounded sarcastic. I hope it isn't.
In fact, you cannot have unaccountable judges making arbitrary decisions about how much of the taxpayer's money to spend on education.
That is the job of elected legislators, whose right and responsibility it is to prioritize amongst all the demands for spending, and who can be held accountable if the choose to spend unwisely.
We are having exactly the same kind of issue in Washington State, where I live.
The Supreme Court has mandated the Legislature increase school spending, and has fined the Legislature for not doing it fast enough. The (Republican led) Senate is rightly telling the Court to go to hell.
Um...yeah, moderate
you really missed the point... the judges were making up NEW spending.
If the AP calls the Judges “moderate” they are almost certainly radical leftists.
The leftist judicial think they can do anything they want, but they have good reason to think they can bully their way through anything, because they have been getting away with it for years.
It’s beyond time to stop the bullying by the Left, the Democrats. Time to turn on them, and lay a haymaker or two. Knock them on their butts, and then kick them out.
Well technically the legislature was wrong when it weighed districts unequally, according to the state constitution. Of course nothing says they cant lower the per pupil pay out to the lowest mean costs, afaik anyways. Kansas has increased spending on education almost every year since 1992, until 2009 when it was one of the highest in the nation. Browback et al has decreased per pupil by 2000 dollars last I checked and its in the middle of states by how much they spend. IMO Brownback lowered taxes at the wrong time because of the shite sandwich left by Sebelius.
Its about time. We have what, 30 legislatures? We should be leading the way on defunding the left and reigning in abusive government. We should be taking on the entrenched interests in the schools, from kindergarden to the state universities.
The judges are dictating how the funds be spent.
