(CNN)Donald Trump is leading Marco Rubio in the Florida senator's home state by 8 percentage points, a Monmouth University poll out Monday shows.
Trump has the support of 38% of Florida's likely GOP primary voters, compared to 30% who back Rubio, 17% for Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and 10% for Ohio Gov. John Kasich.
The snapshot of Florida comes before the state's crucial 99-delegate, winner-take-all primary set for March 15.
It's a must-win for Rubio, who has fallen behind Trump and Cruz in the delegate race after taking only two of the first 20 Republican contests.
The poll undercuts the argument that Rubio could win if he faced Trump head-to-head: The real-estate mogul leads a one-on-one race, 47% to 45%.
The poll shows Rubio leading among Floridians who have already cast their ballots in early voting, while Trump does better with those who haven't voted yet.

Trump over performed in Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, NH, Nevada and Massachusetts.
Here why:
"A new poll by an anti-Donald Trump group has found a narrowing Republican presidential race in Florida, suggesting the barrage of TV ads by the group and its allies might be taking effect."... Our Principles PAC by The Tarrance Group, a Republican firm, and obtained by the Miami Herald.
Running negative ads and running polls is BS.
Which crystal ball did they use to determine this? They don't conduct exit polls during early voting, that I've ever seen. Of course this may not be the the fact in South Florida. Does someone know?
Maybe they are polling over the phone, and asking people how they voted. Personally if I receive a call and don't recognize the caller's name, especially a listing as Unknown Caller, I don't answer and let my answering machine handle the call. this especially goes for Toll Free Numbers.
Last week I finally answered one call that came from a neighboring area code. The survey wanted to know who I would consider as an outside candidate, if Trump and Clinton were the nominees for their respective parties.
After identifying me as a Republican voter, the phone survey gave me a list, one person at a time, and asked would I vote for that person rather than Clinton or Trump. The only two names I recognized were Joe Biden and Condolezza Rice.
Strange that the survey didn't ask who my candidate (Cruz) was, and then who else I would consider. It gave me no choice between Trump and Clinton winning the nominations. The survey was looking for what other candidate I could consider, rather than Trump and Clinton. I voted Saturday. My vote was for Ted Cruz. I will vote for donald Trump, if he is the eventual Republican nominee.
I have a feeling that eventually we will see Joe Biden as the Democrat nominee, Donald Trump or Ted Cruz as the Republican nominee, and a third party that will try to peel off votes from the Republican nominee. This same thing happened in 1992. Unfortunately I fear that if Trump is our nominee, this scenario will give us more of the same. No Hard Core Conservative Republican in the bunch, just another version of Hope and Change. All we can do is hope Trump will live up to his word, and a third party will not bring about another liberal win.
Rubio is in striking distance.
Just saw that 500,000. Early voted and Trump did disproportionally well with LA and other primaries where there were early voters. Should start with a lot in the bank.
FWIW the article suggests that Rubio is leading among those that have already voted.
It means they polled mostly Rubio supporters in his home area stronghold. We need to see more polls before it can be seen as a trend up or down for Trump or little Marco.
That was the 400 voters they sampled in this poll who had already voted.
How would they know? Isn’t that tampering to release results before voting ended?
Senior Amnesty at 30% really?
I don’t think they released early results, they are determining it by a poll of those that have already voted. If TexasCruzin is right then it would be those within the 400 that they polled which would mean that the MOE has got to be huge.
Trump has had a consistent 20 point lead in FL. No way it changed that much since early voting started on Feb 29th.
Those that told the pollster that they had already voted...
Lots of early votes:

“11:30 a.m.
The latest count of absentee and early voters in Florida is showing that more than 571,000 Republicans have already cast their ballots for next week’s crucial winner-take-all primary.
Just over 1 million Floridians have cast their ballots, according to University of Florida political science professor Daniel Smith, who tracks and analyzes early voting data. So far, he says, GOP voters outnumber Democratic voters by about 109,000.”
No one else is even talking about China much less would they even know where to start to Counter China.
Only Trump will build the wall that will stop the invasion of socialist illegals that vote to turn the USA away from the Constitution and towards socialism/statism(See what they did to California)
Before World War 2 the USA was the top economy , the top industrial power.
After World War 2 Europe and Asia were a pile of Ruble .The USA mainland was untouched. The whole world was in the Stone Age except for the USA . America was on top of the world the most technologically advanced country ever, with unlimited natural resourses, unlimited fertile land , all the manufacturing in the world.
But a country that was destroyed , the size of California with no natural resources, Japan was allowed to surpass a continent sized country the USA , (Japan now produces the technology and manufactures things the USA never dreamed of robots, tech, Toyota prius technology etc) . ditto for China as practically everything is now made in China. U.S. politicians sold out the USA.
Politicians have destroyed the USA by working for foreign interests and immigrants. Never have they done one good thing for America. Only Trump can turn this around.
Only Trumps understands what China does that were the factories are so is the technology, production, jobs ,wealth and power.
I believe there will be a very large crossover vote for Trump from democrats and Independents and new voters in FL that are not being sampled in these polls.
Facing reality> Pathway to beating Hillary in the general.
Must win purple states FL, OH, Virginia, Colorado, New Hampshire
Clearly Marco(Rominey) will lose all these states, no base support.
Cruz loses all these states, not enough evangelical and hard core conservative voters.
Trump may win Fl, with all business dealings there, but these media and GoPe shaming attacks will have an effect on crossover voters.
It seems the only way forward to an R win is a combination ticket of the candidates with the most inspired conservative and anti-E voters who are taking 70% in the primaries. Trump will never agree to be VP, leaving the only possible winning combo a Trump/Cruz ticket.
If not we better hope Hillary gets indicted.
The media is inundating us with cheap polls to gin up ‘news’.
They haven’t been worth spit.
There are some ‘crossover’ votes, but I think many of the new voters are people who don’t usually vote because they see no reason to.
“Disaffected voters” the media calls them.
Which makes me wonder about this poll. From what I heard, early voting was going well for Trump but then again, I really don't know. But if as expected, Rubio belly-flops tomorrow everywhere, it will probably cause his support to dry up even more.
Lastly, negative ads are used to diminish your opponents turnout, not increase the turnout of the person running them against you. If you are polling under ten, then your turnout could easily be less than half of what you are polling. Trump looks to be in trouble in Florida. He needs to wake up.
