(Vanity) - Mark Levin, Isn't It Time To Get Behind The Candidate Who Can Beat The Establishment?
Self | Matrch 7, 2016 | mbrfl

Posted on 03/06/2016 9:14:56 PM PST by mbrfl

For the past 4 years, we've heard Mark Levin tell his radio audience that this time around, conservatives need to rally behind one conservative who can actually beat the establishment. As near as I can tell, Levin seems to have gone silent on that point in recent months.

As we watch the GOPe ramp up their attacks on Trump, borrowing from the Mississippi playbook of dirty tricks, wouldn't now be the time to rally around the only candidate who can take out the GOPe - Trump? Any thoughts?

I remarked how strange and unbecoming it was for a multi-millionaire to be so greedy...

Talk about attacking from the left! You might as well sign your name with a hammer and sickle.

Some of us applaud Trump for standing up to opportunist lawyers with something for nothing clients attempting to bilking him for a quick touch. As Trump said, you settle with one and more come out of the woodwork.

That is why he is for tort reform in our healthcare system to bring exorbitant rates and deductibles down.

That is why he wants a reasoned buffer against modern day socialist journalists that will say and do anything for the notoriety and profit a libelous headline will bring them.

“he supports Planned Parenthood, but not their abortion services. He want’s those defunded.”

It’s even stronger than that. He wants all of PP de-funded, not just abortions, until abortions stop.

I said he was conservative from the mid-fifties. Your cut-and-paste takes us up to 1948, Truman’s second campaign. By the mid-fifties, Reagan was giving speeches all over the country for General Electric, and had become conservative.

It was while Reagan was President of SAG that he dealt with Communists face-to-face, received death threats—and threats of acid in the face—and began carrying a gun.

What is striking to me that everything you cut-and-pasted is absolutely beside the point—because I said Reagan was conservative from the mid-fifties, and your cut-and-paste stops at 1948.

Well, I was saying that Hamilton disliked Burr more than Jefferson disliked Burr.   lol I think it should speak for itself Hamilton didn't care very much for the man that killed him.

Having said that, it is true that Jefferson and Hamilton had an extreme rivalry, even beyond the grave.

One of Jefferson's grandchildren said:

"the eye settled with a deeper interest on busts of Jefferson and Hamilton, by Ceracchi, placed on massive pedestals on each side of the main entrance—"opposed in death as in life," as the surviving original sometimes remarked, with a pensive smile, as he observed the notice they attracted."

Alexander Hamilton Bust (Sculpture) | Thomas Jefferson's Monticello

I think a large portion of that animosity was that Hamilton had been Washington's chief of staff in the Continental Army and had Washington's ear so often.

>>>Where have you been? The word, “conservative”, means nothing any more.

Conservative means what it has meant since the 50s/60s. Small government, U.S. constitutional republic, rule of law, not man. Individual rights, liberty, freedom, free enterprise system..

This is the foundation of the American conservative movement.

“In the SCOTUS, each side has 30 minutes to present his case. “Present” means reading verbatim a script. The presenter has had months, perhaps years, to have his staff of paralegals prepare the 30-minute script that he will read.”

Excellent point.

The subject was not whether Ronald Reagan was Conservative or not by 1962, but whether he was still an unknown quantity on the national stage when he ran for President. I didn't really know what Reagan's positions were back then. I voted for Ronald Reagan because he was a Republican and my dad, retired from GE, had met him when he toured the GE Plant in Rome, GA.

I only wanted to make the point that President Reagan got the same kind of controversial liberal press then, as Trump does now. Cruz supporters claim that Trump is an unknown quantity in politics but I think you and I see advantages in that in opposition to our enemies.

No it doesn't and back then, it was just REPUBLICAN; nobody in the '50s was even talking about CONSERVATISM, nor all that much in the '60s!

How old were YOU in the '50s, and '60s and just how deeply involved in politics were you back then ?

By Washington’s second term, Jefferson HATE George. He had enough sense to understand that he couldn’t attack THE GREAT MAN, so he went after Hamilton, who was Washington’s protegee and right hand man. Yes, Hamilton also did have Washington’/s ear, which angered VICIOUS, nasty Tom.

It can get hijacked most easily when people don’t know conservative principles or don’t believe they are true or don’t act on them.

I'm quite old :). Old enough to have been involved in quite a bit of conservative politics over the decades. I'm certainly old enough to have studied it and know its history.

You seem to have forgotten Russell Kirk's "The Conservative Mind" published in 1953 and William Buckley's founding of National Review in 1955 at which time, in his mission statement he described it as "a conservative weekly journal of opinion.. It is out of place because, in its maturity, literate America rejected conservatism.."

You seem to want to make this personal. I don’t get personal or do flame wars.

If you wish to address my comments in rebuttal to yours on the merits, do so..

I’m not sure what your point is.

Reagan was a national celebrity by 1940. He was a conservative Republican by 1952. He made a famous LP against socialized medicine in 1962. He gave the most consequential speech of the entire Goldwater campaign. He was Governor of California from 1966 to 1974. He had a daily radio broadcast on political issues for the remainder of the seventies, which he wrote himself.

It’s for these reasons that I found your statement that Reagan was a mystery candidate in 1976 or 1980 baffling.
