Mitt Romney won’t rule out accepting GOP nomination at contested convention
Washington Times ^ | 3/6/2016 | S.A. Miller

Mitt Romney, the 2012 Republican presidential nominee, refused Sunday to rule out becoming the nominee again this year at a brokered convention, though he insisted he couldn’t imagine that happening.

“I don’t think anyone in our party should say, ‘Oh no, even if the people of the party wanted me to be president, I would say no to it.’ No one is going to say that,” Mr. Romney said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

Diogenes—i’ve wondered how long it would be before you jumped in with your “love” for Romney? Romney is on a fool’s errand, and is being used by those who wanted Jeb, and might still get Jeb, if Romney has his way. stupid...stupid move on Romney’s part. why didn’t he spend his most recent 15 minutes of fame, making the case against Hillary? would he prefer Hillary to Trump? if Hillary wins, Romney will have to share some of the blame. it’s too bad Romney didn’t use some of his righteous indignation against BHO in 2012.

I know these rules. We all counting on the people who consistently fiddled with the rules to screw us to suddenly obey them.

“...makes one wonder if the GOPe is now backing Cruz pumping him up to deny both Cruz and Trump the nomination and instead install one of the Establishment.”

That’s pretty much it.

They have nothing to lose because they think people will fall in line least they want Hillary to win, not that the gope will try anyway.

It was. I’ve been warning, though I thought they would a) stop Trump, b) insert Cruz, c) remove Cruz, d) insert Yeb.

I never dreamed Yeb would be so pathetic.

To quote “Rocky,” . . . “Absolutely.”

I’ve said for two months this was their plan. They can’t stop Trump without the Cruzers. They have that strong 20-30% block, depending on the state.

I still believe if Trump can show with a win in MI and MS that he’s completely in the driver’s seat and that Cruz would need 70% of all remaining delegates to win, Cruz might talk turkey.

I know. I’ve been hammering this for two months. All you need to do is read the Twitterverse with Jonah Goldberg, Guy Benson, Charles Cooke, etc. They HATE Cruz . . . yet all of a sudden they’re on the Cruz bandwagon?

Two months ago these guys were touting everything Chris Christie and John Kasich did. Now Christie’s a turncoat and Kasich “needs to get out” . . . for CRUZ? Yep. Cause they need any body thrown in front of that Trump bus to stop it. Then then can bring in the GOPe cavalry and Ted will be swept aside faster than last spring’s lint.

love how chris w let Romney repeat all the assertions he made in his broadcast ‘never trump’ speech once again. that’s the third time I’ve seen a show on fox news do that.

No, a guy 100 delegates behind Trump isn’t going to get the nomination.

I used to think Cruz could win a general. Doubt it now.

I’m sure few people really believed that jerk was acting as the attack dog for the establishment out of the generosity of his heart anyway...or for his grandchildren.

The only real question I have, though, is whether the establishment is actually so stupid that they don’t realize that would be the final nail in the coffin of the Republican Party? I guess we may have the opportunity to find out. GOP meet the Whigs.

“Otherwise, the GOPE will screw us over.”

I’m beginning to think these people see us as the ‘help’. We’re not important enough to have a choice, but they do need us to cater their parties at the country club - the one they would fight tooth and nail to prevent us from ever getting a membership at.
