Mitt Romney and John McCain Denounce Donald Trump as a Danger to Democracy
NY Times ^ | March 3, 2016 | Not stated

Posted on 03/03/2016 7:13:09 PM PST by Innovative

A divided Republican Party erupted into open and bitter warfare on Thursday as its two previous presidential nominees delivered an extraordinary rebuke of its current front-runner, Donald J. Trump, warning that his election could put the United States and its democratic system in peril.

In a detailed, thorough and lacerating assault on Mr. Trump and the angry movement he has inspired, Mitt Romney, the party’s nominee in 2012, attacked him as “a fraud” and “a phony” who would drive the country to the point of collapse.

Seems to me that democracy is exactly what McCain and Romney are afraid of.

Remember the part Rod Steiger played in “Dr. Zhivago”?

There’s the analogy for them.

It started well before that. McQueeg has been in Congress since January 1983. When Republicans decided that managing the Communist agenda of the Democrats rather than eliminating it was where they went bad. That started in earnest in the 1930s, and was the status quo beginning with Eisenhower.

No Republican Administration has cut government and rolled back a Democrat regime’s agenda since President Harding in 1921. Nearly a century. Not even Reagan could do it. He couldn’t even sack Secretary of Education, a sop to the radical leftist teachers unions for their support of Carter, which was only a 2/3 year old cabinet post when Reagan took office.

Like a malignant cancer gobbling everything in sight, this government keeps metastasizing under the bipartisan cabal.

RE Punk:
That was “Strelnikov”... indeed. I just watched that movie on TCM about two weeks ago or so. The parallels are... disturbing, to say the least.

I seriously doubt either Romney nor McCain realize they have never lived in a democracy.

I’ve felt all along that the gope had struck a deal with the dems, they’d put up a sacrificial lamb so as not deprive the US of our first female president. It’s the same deal they struck with the dems in 2008, so that we could all have the pleasure of our first black president. In exchange, the gope would continue to be invited to all the good cocktail parties, and get a cut of the corruption, and be tossed a few crumbs here and there.

I remember a video of John McCain yelling in a meeting at Arizona voters over illegals. He was for illegals and they against them.

Between Mith Romney, Captain McQueeg, and the entire GOPE, they have succeeded tonight to push me into the TRUMP camp.
Up until tonight I was a Cruz guy, but no more.

Even worse, they were beaten by an inexperienced nothing (in McCain’s case) and a proven failure in Romney’s case. They have no business attacking any Republican candidates; they should be wearing sackcloth and ashes...

“McCain and Romney are a disgrace.”

Yes, Yes, and Yes......these 2 BOZO’s will be remembered for what they did today, forever in history! They are a total disgrace to the American People. McCain’s true colors really came through today. He has no problem, turning on his own, as he did today. McCain today proved that he is nothing but bag of hot air! Nobody other than Romney can sink as low as McCain did today. How can anyone, take these 2 JOKERS seriously , ever , again? How SAD the GOP has shown itself to be today. How very, VERY, SAD INDEED!
