I would much rather pay a higher price and support an American worker here in the states than send my money overseas and support a communist regime. The truth of the matter is these goods coming from china are produced at a fraction of what they are sold for. They are priced about 40% less than American goods yet are produced for about 20% of the American cost. That $150 entertainment center you buy at walmart cost about $15 to make in china, that same entertainment center made in America would run about $190 and cost about $90 to be made here.

Also, I’d rather pay more for things like clothespins and safety pins of some quality rather than the crap we get now.

Where did you get those figures? The margins are not that big. Labor is a small part of production of manufactured goods. We are selling out for almost nothing, pennies on the dollar. it's a shame.

Trump is not a community organizer nor is he a libertarian economist employed by a think thank; he has some experience in how the economy really works.

I remember as a kid back in the 50’s and 60’s anything made in Japan was a cheap piece of junk. After all these years of spending our money on that crap, the Japanese took control of their markets and production of their goods and now they produce some of the finest goods in the world.

Yes, I took note of that. Just reading Trump’s schedule makes me tired. I don’t know how he does it. Somewhere I did see where someone posted his coming schedule and I recall seeing that he did not yet have any rallies scheduled for like 6 to 9 March or so as I remember.

I don’t think that applies to China. I now avoid made in China as much as possible because I think they make crap.

No, Trump is saying that when we pay China $100 for goods we per se lose $100 regardless of the goods we get. That is what he is saying and what he means by the stupid concept called “trade deficit. It’s a lot of inflammatory rhetoric meant to stir up the kind of people who really have no clue about what is really going on - too many I think. If not correctly understood, economics can be a total mystery.

I’m not saying Trump means harm, but he’s off on this, I’m not sure why. He need to address the CORE ISSUES that drive business out because the feds have forced higher costs of doing business here than elsewhere, some of which I listed earlier.

Cruz’s team has already come out in support of Romney’s craptastic speech. Just more proof Cruz is part of the problem.

No. It means Americans bought $580 billions of dollars of goods more than what china bought from us. In other words there is more money leaving the US than what is coming in.How long can we sustain that trade scenario.

re: cruz and him allegedly supporting what Romney is doing...

This is very strange to me. Why would he do that? Surely he knows they would never back him if HE were in Trump’s place as front runner. And surely he knows they hate him. Since he claims to understand how badly we need to control illegal immigration, how could he choose to support what Romney is representing here?

Can he not see the polarity? This is very black and white, guys. This is an “Us” vs. “Them” Revolution against the UniParty going on. He claims to be a part of it. It’s not some checkers game where he moves his checkers around trying to come out the winner. Can he not see how he could just as easily be in Trump’s shoes, being ganged up on by McConnell, Romney & the GOPe? This makes no sense, and I’m truly trying to figure out his motivations.

Is there even a small chance that this “hate” between Cruz and the GOPe is actually something else? Could that be cover for something going on at a deeper level? (Just hear me out here; I’m not trying to start an argument. And I really don’t expect an answer, either).

I’ve seen for months how some people think that the Fall ‘13 secret meeting Ted had with McConnell and other RINOs was some kind of turning point for Ted. Then in Spring 2014 for some unknown reason, he (and Rand Paul) refused to help any tea party candidates across the country. In particular, Chris McDaniel was trying to beat Thad Cochran in MS in a runoff election. THEN we discover that not only did Ted Cruz not help McDaniel & other tea party people beat the RINOs, it was even worse.

Cruz was a vice-chair member of the National Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee (NRSCC), which was sending money to Cochran & Haley Barbour to pay Democrats to vote in the runoff for Cochran the RINO. Cruz was helping Cochran beat the tea party guy McDaniel!

If Ted’s Fall 2013 meeting with RINOs WAS a turning point, what direction did he go? Did he make a deal with McConnell/Boehner? I’m talking about a deal where he would run for President and if the Chosen RINO (Jeb or Mitt) beat him in the primary fair & square, then Ted would support the RINO and give him his delegates (& maybe get a VP role). But instead of turning out like that, Trump came along and messed up their plans.

(Btw, did Jeb and Ted ever attack each other in debates? I can’t remember.)

And remember that very public show on the Senate floor where Ted called McConnell a liar? He gave an hour-long patriotic speech that sent the proverbial thrill up the leg of all conservatives. I rejoiced on that day, sure in my heart that he was sincere. But now, I’m just not so sure. Could that speech have been cover for him, knowing that he was about to run for Pres and needed the votes of millions of tea party conservatives? It sure did give him more creds in MY mind, ranting against corrupt RINOs. I was even telling people at the time that if he ever ran for President, I didn’t CARE if he was eligible or not — I was voting for him!

But now... if he’s actually siding with Mittens over me, I’m just not sure he’s who he really is. I wish i knew because he may be running as my Senator again one day. And I will never vote for a RINO again, much less a man who hides it, so i really need to know who Ted Cruz is as a man.

Tariffs and protectionism NEVER work and absolutely fail to address the core issues of federal government interference in American business that drive up the cost of doing business so much they have to go elsewhere.

Why do you always confuse issues that have nothing to do with each other? Tariffs have two purposes, first it is a consumption tax and a source of revenue, secondly tariffs promote domestic industry.

This has nothing to do with government regulations and taxes. Tariffs would be a good idea if there were no regulations and or taxes.

I am very much opposed to income taxes and regulations but tariffs have nothing to do with that issue.

That’s up to you but forced higher costs and prices don’t help our economy, it hurts it badly and does NOTHING to address the ROOT CAUSES government-forced higher costs of doing business in America which drives businesses elsewhere. Protectionism is really wrongheaded and works AGAINST its supposed goals for a multitude of reasons.

Get rid of all of that crap. Protectionism NEVER works

Folks always point to the founding fathers to back up a point... not really knowing what the founding fathers really stood for. Just so you know: the first tax they made was a tariff. Also, just so you know: Reagan set tariffs as part of his 'America first' initiative that lead to one of the greatest economic booms we have ever had.

The donor class always say tariffs don't work because they want to make everything overseas, or in Mexico, and sell it here.
