Rubio: Cruz Had ‘Bad Night,’ If He Can’t Sweep South, Where’s He Going To Win?
Breitbart ^ | 03/02/16 | Ian Hanchett

Posted on 03/02/2016 12:19:53 PM PST by Enlightened1

On the Fox News Channel's Super Tuesday coverage, GOP presidential candidate Florida Senator Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) 79% stated that fellow candidate Texas Senator Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 97% had a "bad night" on Super Tuesday and wondered, if Cruz "cannot sweep on Super Tuesday...where in this country is he going to win?" While he would win Florida and "other winner take all states." Rubio added that he wouldn't get out even if he didn't win Florida and plans to campaign in all 50 states.

Rubio said, "I think the analysis has to be re-calibrated here. First of all, this is the proportional stage of the campaign. So, no one is taking home all of these delegates. Not even Ted Cruz in Texas, who, by the way, tonight was supposed to be Ted Cruz's big night. You never heard my campaign say that we were going clean house on Super Tuesday. ... He ended up winning his home state, and sharing delegates. And the neighboring state of Oklahoma, and sharing delegates."

He continued, "On the other hand, you look at Virginia, a state where we were down 20 points in the polls...we basically fought Donald Trump to a draw, despite having to share the ballot with a number people that probably took votes away, and we're going to leave there with as many delegates as he has. And we don't just have a significant number of delegates there, but in multiple states....

Cruz does pretty well in closed primaries (won 3 out of 4). Trump is very popular with Dems and Independents (that is not a put down, it would help him in the General Election.)

Cruz should do well in closed primaries outside of the northeast.

You never heard my campaign say that we were going clean house on Super Tuesday.

Translate that as: "Support me and you too can get super-psyched when I barely manage to only just measure up to the really low expectations I have for success."

Neither have any credibility in that argument.

Cruz wins in closed primaries.

Texas was an open primary, and Alaska was a caucus. Other problem is that as the race moves to other states, Cruz's "very conservative" and "evangelical" voter groups-- the only ones he appeals to-- will be smaller and smaller proportions of the electorate, and even then, he's not guaranteed to win them, since he lost them in South Carolina, Nevada, Georgia, etc., and only won them in Texas, his home state, and Oklahoma. Look at how bad Cruz did in Vermont, Massachusetts, and even Virginia, where more moderate voters prevailed. His numbers turn from being close to Trump to far away from him-- because Cruz literally doesn't appeal beyond his narrow voter group.

That’s a fair question, but I’d ask much the same of Rubio.

Gonna be sweet watching you lose Florida in two weeks.

Amen to that. Where does this jerk get off saying something like this? Is he really that stupid?

No way I'm supporting Mr. Thirsty, even if Cruz goes down and we're stuck with tRump.

He is correct about Cruz, as far as that goes. The fact that he won much less seems to escape him.

“Even though Trump won Super Tuesday, Rubio really won Super Tuesday.”

LOL. That’s probably the Fox News talking point today.

“He did well in Virginia in counties adjacent to D.C. - not a good trend in an anti-establishment election cycle.”

Seems to me you’ve got it backwards. Trump won heavily in downstate VA where normal folks reside. Boobio won in the counties ont he Potomac where all the Fed Gov employees live. In a throw the bums out election, this is exactly what you’d expect tosee

Of course. The GOPe Wing of the DC Uni-Party will crown him the sacrificial candidate after screwing Trump out of the nomination, giving the finger to the American People.

Marco Rubio apparently has been studying at the Harry Reid school of political posturing. Make sure you have the media with you and then make stuff up, the more outrageous the better, and smear your opponents with it over and over and over. Later, if anyone points out your lies, just shrug and say “he didn’t win, did he?” or something to that effect.

All Trump cares about is electing Hillary. See I can play your stupid game too.

Cruz is not GOPe. In fact, the GOPe would rather Trump than Cruz. Not sure how many times they have to say that for Trump supporters to believe it. BUt then again Trump does love stupid people.

As far as I know Cruz (OK) and Trump (AR) have each won one closed primary. I guess we will see if this conventional wisdom turns out to be false as most conventional wisdom does.

Saying it a million times doesn’t make it true. Cruz is establishment. Cruz has been at the top level of the GOPe since at least 1999, his wife for nearly as long before she left for CFR and Goldman Sachs. They are very much the establishment insider power couple. I wish people would actually read Ted and wifey’s resumes.
