He wouldn’t. It’s fantasy.

An indeterminate first ballot would be known before the end of the primaries. The convention rules would be changed by the whole convention itself before the first ballot to ensure a nominee. Remember, these delegates are going to be overwhelmingly inclined to Trump or Cruz. Now way they accept a Romney.

No reason for the chaos of multiple ballots these days. Too much information out there before the convention convenes.

I heard Trump is asking that to allow Democrats and Independent liberals to vote in closed primaries so he can win.

The next four are closed primaries, so your theory of Cruz winning the closed primaries will get a true test.

The information is important because Cruz was expected to win his home state.

He is not expected to win any future big delegate states.

The percentages minus Texas are indicative of those going forward.

Rubio is expected to lose his home state of Florida to Trump and will drop out after. Florida is a big delegate state. After Florida goes to Trump, I can’t see, even using the most wishful of thinking, how Ted survives.

It is being reported that Ted Cruz took 44% of the Texas vote.

Then you’re suggesting we need to vote in the democrat primary to have an impact. I disagree with your analysis. Obama won because he was black.

But I don't believe that anyone will be able to buy him off for any amount of money.

Yep, they probably won't be able to buy him off with money...

Yep. I think it’s another Texas scenario for him. If he wins he fights on if he loses he needs to drop out.

There is no path to a win for Cruz, Rubio or Kasich if they all stay in. Right now, Trump 315, Cruz 235, Rubio 106.
Trump 9 states, Cruz 4 states, Rubio 1 state.
Percentage of votes cast, Trump 35%, Cruz 29%, Rubio 23%.
Now my question is. Trump drops out his republican voters go to Cruz, not going to happen but that’s where they go. Cruz drops out, his votes go to Trump, maybe he drops out at some point. Rubio drops out his vote mostly go to Cruz, very soon he will be out. When Rubio drops out matters, after Florida it’s Trump, before there is a race and we win either way!

One thing is for sure- Rubio won’t win Florida- would GOPe actually send Romney to the rescue? Idiocy!

When you compromise with evil, you get evil. Our country has been a relentless march towards Socialism since FDR because of compromise with Progressives.

Can we try saying no to evil at least once to see how that works? If we hold the House and actually use the power of the purse, with the right man in the White House I think that is possible.

Of course the next President will be they key in terms of using the bully-pulpit to dismantle the federal beast that has been constructed. I think Cruz is by far the best man to use the Presidential platform to make the case for Constitutional conservatism to the American people.

Wifey,

I'm officially switching my number one and number two candidates, even though I've given my maximum money donation to Cruz and NOT ONE DIME to Trump, I am now making Trump my number one and Cruz my second choice.

As I axed you, begged you and pleaded with you, after you destroyed Scott Walker, to not get on board with Ted Cruz, but you did.

Again, I ax you, beg you and plead with you, please don't not get on the Trump train.

If you want to help the pubbies, go over to DU and back hildabutchbitch and cast your evil spell on her.

Bless your heart, I'll pray for you.

And in every state besides Texas Cruz is averaging around 21 percent of the vote. Cruz had to defend Texas like the Alamo and it cost him the entire South. It is called the SEC primary for a reason and Trump cleaned Cruz’s clock everywhere in the SEC

They do seem to be out of tough enough to try it. That would probably end up being fun to watch.

Reagan was evil then?

“A man 75-80% on my side is a trusted friend and ally, not my enemy”.

Ronald Reagan.

I know this falls on deaf ears around here but the fact remains, We are a Constitutional Republic that rests on the notion that the people’s Representatives in Government know how to compromise and negotiate.

This notion that Cruz will ride into DC and dictate his 100%er terms to everyone else there is simply wishful thinking.

Still hope that we can oust the clown in a brokered convention. Just combining Rubio and Cruz gives more delegates than Trump, so that’s a start at stopping the insanity.

________________________________________________________________

I am a Cruz supporter and will likely caucus for him on Saturday here in Kentucky. That being said, your remarks about insanity don't make sense to me.

Trump has brought millions of people together in an exciting campaign, this in the Republican party which never sees this kind of excitement. It was Trump who had the gonads to bring up illegal immigration in this election cycle and the accompanying wall. Why would we want a few leaders in a “smoke filled room” determine who our nominee should be.

I would much rather the peoples voice be heard and Donald Trump be the nominee than have Mitch McConnell determine who it would be. If I thought there were no way for Cruz to get the delegates he needs for a first vote win then I would vote for Trump just so the GOPe can't force Romney down my throat. If they do that I hope that Trump runs third party and destroys what is left of the Republican party, I would vote for Trump in that situation. I don't dislike Romney, he's a great guy but he's not a conservative. Perhaps he is more conservative than Hillary but just barely.

I assume you make an exception to your small, archaic principle for Donald J. Trump, son of American husband Fred Trump and his Scottish wife Mary Anne (MacLeod) Trump.

That is obviously way different than Cruz’s Cuban farther and American mother. Because, Trump.

The founders recognized that at the time of the ratification of the Constitution, there was not anyone in the US who was a citizen by birth. As such, no one qualified as NBC.

The founders also recognized that it is organic to a nation state to define who it’s citizens either by birth or by naturalization. Collectively these are called the rules of naturalization. This includes who needs naturalization to be a citizen and who does not (citizen at birth). It also includes other things like the process for recognition by the US government for citizenship, etc, but those topics are not germane to this discussion. The founders specifically enumerated Congress with the authority to establish all of these rules of naturalization (Article 1 Section 8). At the time of the ratification of the Constitution, this authority was unrestricted. This was later modified by the 14th amendment. It should also be noted that this is an exclusive authority of Congress. The states can not make laws with regards to naturalization or citizens of the United States.

Under that authority, Congress - the very first congress, composed of many of the founders, passed the Naturalization Act of 1790 in which, they specifically determined that NBC status does not require being born on US soil. That act also established the precedence that NBC is based upon the conditions at the time of one’s birth via parentage. One could be born beyond the boarders to a US citizen parent and still be a NBC.

Subsequent Congressional acts have repealed and replaced the first naturalization act. Other laws and amendments (14th amendment - reestablished jus soli as one of the justifications for citizenship at birth) has modified the law over time so that the current situation is described in USC Title 8 Section 1401 - Nationals and Citizens of United States at birth. According to that code subsection A, anyone born on US soil is a citizen of the US at their birth. There are also other sections that describe the conditions of ones birth that qualifies as a citizen at birth. Sen Cruz is a citizen at birth due to subsection G of that code as his mother was a US citizen at the time of his birth.

Further, the definition of the word “naturalization” is specified in USC Title 8 section 1101 - Definitions. In subsection A, part (23) it specifically states that naturalization occurs only after birth. Therefore, citizenship status is based on the conditions of one’s birth, and as a subset of that, NBC status is also based on the conditions of one’s birth.

OK. So are you perpetuating a lie, or do you simply not know that Mary Anne MacLeod Trump became a naturalized American citizen in 1942, four years before Donald was born. That means that at the time of his birth, both his parents were American citizens.
