Anticipating Big Super Tuesday, Trump Mulled Skipping Next Fox News Debate
New York Magazine ^ | 3/1/16 | Gabriel Sherman

With polls showing Donald Trump on track to score big in Super Tuesday primaries tonight, the GOP front-runner even considered being a no-show at the Fox News debate on Thursday that will be co-moderated by Megyn Kelly. According to a highly placed source familiar with the matter, Trump's thinking was that he could send a powerful signal that he no longer considers Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio credible rivals for the nomination. Bowing out of the Fox News debate would have the added bonus of sticking it to the channel's chief, Roger Ailes, and star anchor Kelly by depriving them of the ratings. "Why give them the audience?" the source explained. The last Fox debate without Trump pulled in 12.5 million viewers, down 50 percent from the first GOP debate.

When I called Trump spokesperson Hope Hicks last night to ask about this, she said Trump will "definitely" attend Thursday's debate. My source later explained that Trump changed his mind because he wanted to maintain the element of surprise.

I agree, no more debates. They’re insipid.

But he probably shouldn’t forgo the opportunity to laugh in the losers’ faces fresh from the Tuesday aftermath.

What’s the point of more debates? They’ve already said everything they have to say to each other. At this point it’s all about attacking, calling each other names, this guy is a liar, that guy is a flip flopper etc..

No more debates indeed.

Skip it Mr. Trump. It’s all about hammering you and Cruz making a phony alliance with Rubio.

Considering the racist stuff going on, this debate could be the worst ever. Kelly & Rubio are going to go for the throat once again. It will be a disgrace and a disservice to the voters who would actually care to hear where the candidates stand on the issues.

The “debates” should have ended a few weeks ago. If Trump is the big winner today, the campaigns of Cruz and Rubio will be on life support, by agreeing to debate the Cuban circus act, he elevates them, and breathes new life into their failing campaigns.

Good!
Hand a “Go back to TX and succeed” sign to Cruz and a sweaty jock strap to Rubio.

These debates only help the TV channel and cost advertisers a fortune which they pass on to customers.

Me either. I have watched the last debate in this primary last time. This is stupid and the GOPe refuses to stop them because they think they can still stop Trump. No more media and GOPe planned attacks on Repubs.
