Trump Admits Times Report, Says Status Of Illegals Is “Negotiable”

For months now, Donald Trump has spouted the same line on immigration, promising to build a border wall and deport people here illegally. Last night, he admitted he would not deport the 11 million people in the United States illegally....

Trump appeared on Sean Hannity's show.... Here's the key transcript:

"We had a board meeting [at the New York Times], it was off-the-record, suddenly they leak it..." Trump said.

"They said it's negotiable on the wall," Hannity said...

"By the way it is negotiable. Things are negotiable," Trump said.

Trump was quick to add that the negotiation does not include nixing the idea altogether.

"Building it? Not negotiable."

"Would it be negotiable about the 11 million?" Hannity pressed. "Maybe let some people stay if they register in a period of time?"

"I would say this," Trump added, "we will work out some system that's fair, but we either have a country or we don't. We need a border. We need a wall."

Here's Rubio at the CNN debate last week:

before we do anything on immigration, we are going to secure the border. And, that's not just the physical border with Mexico, it's Visa overstays. That's 45 percent of the problem right there.

It also has to do -- that's why we need e-verify, and entry-exit tracking system, and so-forth. And, until that happens, we're not doing anything else. And then we'll see what the American people are willing to support";

Those are exactly the same positions - build the wall, then figure out what to do with the people already here. There is literally no daylight between the Rubio and Trump positions on immigration.

...”There is literally no daylight between the Rubio and Trump positions on immigration”...

If words have meaning, there is no daylight. Not sure if Trump supporters will acknowledge that. I’ll now read this thread ...

Every headline on this subject are is a lie. Nowhere did he say he would not deport the illegals. They’re grabbing at straws.

Even Limbaugh is defending him. Of course, Limbaugh is also playing down the meeting he had with Graham and Schumer. Limbaugh should have told his listeners about the meeting the day of the meeting.

“ZZZZZZZZZ.”
_______________

Wake up and smell the coffee boys & girls...PT Barnum Trump is already changing his positions on illegal immigration...off-the-record is now on-the record! Sounded like the Trump wall might even be negotiable! Trump said he can change to any position he wants; he’s morphing before our very eyes...not a surprise!

What’s next? What else did the Donald spout to the NY Times?

Trump said the other day that he likes interesting quotes...

Il n’y a pas plus sourd que celui qui ne veut pas entendre...

Time for Trump supporters to open their ears!

I’m not blinded by my love for Trump. I may be blinded by my hatred of the politicians who tell us what we’re supposed to think.

Well passing misinformation as you are is very Goebble’s of you isn’t it? You really hate the truth being shown unto your lies don’t you? notice you haven’t discounted anything I said about Ted’s position with facts. I have been thinking for weeks that Trumps rise has been very parallel to that of Hitler and Ceasar, both which were the death knells for a republican government like the USA. You are among the masses ushering in the destruction of our republic. I would just like to thank you for the dystopian future you have planned out for us.

Second of all, when your invited to a meeting like this, it's ‘off the record’ and is suppose to stay that way, but Trump knowing the press the way he does, gave just a ‘hint’ so to see who would ‘leak’ and sure enough, here's Buzz feed and NYSlimes off and running, which he knew would happen, that's the purpose of them being invited...

Is this satire?

Here is the "brilliant Trump strategy" defense that someone predicted up stream.

How DARE the NYT leak the truth about Trump that was supposed to be off the record.

Some Trump supporters are like Pit Bull owners; no matter how much evidence there is of his dangerous nature, they will refuse to believe it.

Way to take things out of context

“Everything But Building The Wall Is Negotiable”

There are many finer details that will have to be negotiated about

“You know, I’ll make the wall two feet shorter or something. I mean, everything is negotiable.”

“It’s not negotiable building it?” Hannity pressed.

“No, building it. Not negotiable,” Trump assured.

Could it be negotiable about the 11 million? Maybe letting some people stay if the register in a period of time?” Hannity asked, searching for answers on exactly what would be “negotiable.”

“I would say this. Look, I’ve always said, we have some good people over here and they are going to go out, but we will work out some system that is fair,” Trump said. “But you either have a country or you don’t. We need a border — we need a wall.”

He added again, “But there’s always going to be some negotiation. I mean, whether the wall is 50 feet tall or 40 feet tall and one of the things, one of the reporters said to me, well, ‘What happens, you know, Vincente Fox made this statement, how do you respond?’ It was an arrogant, terrible, horrible statement. And I said, here’s how I respond: The wall just got 10 feet higher. And I meant it. He was incensed.”

A nice hitjob indeed to take what he said so completely out of context, hes saying its negotiable what the wall will look like basically

If Trump had answered the NYT that day: The wall will be EXACTLY what I say it is going to be. I am going to do exactly what I want with the illegal aliens who are here, there will be NOTHING that comes up that can change me, no mitigating circumstances that may arise, and I don't care---I've got a pen and a phone...etc...

If he said THAT, the Cruzers would be screaming "He's unyielding, he's a dictator, he's Mussolini, he can't get along with other people, he won't accept a changing world with changing circumstances, he has no respect for the opinions of others. yadayada"

People are like that.

Reminds me of what always happens in a police shooting. The cop kills a thug in a shoot out, the neighbors and professional agitators go NUTS, demand indictments, yadayada.

BUT if the cop had NOT shot the thug and the thug got away and the thug killed a citizen later that day, the community and professional grievance class would be crying "The cop had a chance to stop this but he didn't! Cops are supposed to protect us but he let this thug get away and now the thug killed one of us!" etc

Now, THESE two examples are failing to stand on PRINCIPLE.

Wow the ‘smoking gun’ is revealed - the smoking cap gun that is. This is a total non-story. Nothing he said in there is even remotely worrying to an anti-illegal immigration guy like me.

Do you plan to negotiate with him over whether and which campaign proposals he will modify, and which of his very temporary conservative campaign positions will be abandoned?

Good...I’m not in the mood to do so.

nope, I grasps things well, you though have a terrible problem with the truth. If it does not match your agenda change it so that it will.
