Sen. Ted Cruz drew a stark contrast between Democratic donors and Republican donors during a floor speech late Monday.
Democratic donors, Cruz said, don't hate the liberal base, but Republican donors "actively despise" conservatives.
"On the Democratic side, the major donors that fund the Democratic Party, they don't despise their base. The billionaires who write the giant checks that fund President Obama and Hillary Clinton and the Democrats on that side of the aisle, they don't despise the radical gay rights movement or the radical environmentalist movement or all of the people that knock on doors and get Democrats elected," Cruz said.
By contrast, the 2016 Republican presidential candidate continued, "Republican donors actively despise our base, actively despise the men and women who showed up and voted you and me into office."
"I can tell you when you sit down and talk with a New York billionaire Republican donor and I have talked with quite a few New York billionaire Republican donors, California Republican donors, their questions start out as follows," Cruz said. "First of all, you've got to come out for gay marriage, you need to be pro-choice, and you need to support amnesty. That's where the Republican donors are. You wonder why Republicans won't fight on any of these issues? Because the people writing the checks agree with the Democrats."'
Those donors, Cruz added, also view the people who elected the Republican majorities in Congress "as a bunch of ignorant hicks and rubes."

In my view, Cruz is on the losing end of the stick with this ‘Bromance’ with Rubio. Rubio is steadily rising and taking the rise out of Cruz’ standing. You can see it in Florida and Georgia for sure.....
IMO, Ted should work to stop Rubio who is establishment and then worry about Trump.
Indeed. Dennis Prager is correct, as he is about so many things. It’s odd though - that billionaires would subscribe to the communistic religion in the first place.
Cruz is endorsing Rubio?
Is that a whisper campaign like “Carson is leaving the race”?
Trump invested in his own campaign? Or loaned it money that will be paid for by future donors?
That sound BS to me, how he know what Cruz told Rubio
Cruz is a fool. After he say that, he still think Rubio is better than Trump
Rove the $300 million man with 0% successful rate. None of his candidate won
Romney didnt release his til september and reid said even then romeny only released a summary and not his actual tax return. I dont think it be breaking any rule by releasing it after the nomination
Are English be a second language on you?
> Cruz is the bigger liar in the history of US politics.
Hyperbole much?
If Cruz were really an American conservative patriot, instead of a Senator trying to make a career move, he would have endorsed and allied with Donald Trump instead of Marco Rubio.
I guess you haven't been paying close attention, there is plenty of talk of being able to work with Trump and almost zero talk of working with Cruz. Hell that's is one of Trump's main talking point at he campaign shows, he brags about it.
I think he knows he cannot be the nominee; What if Donald calling him a liar got to him and he sacrificed the country for revenge and a promise of favor or consideration from Rubio in exchange for endorsing Marco over Donald ?
I don’t know how Roger Stone could get leaks from both the Trump and the Rubio camp. That would be amazing. And if it’s a traitor in the Cruz camp, that would be really big.
You wrote ...
‘Roger Stone said today that Cruz talked to both Trump and Rubio and said he would get out of the race if they promised him, if elected, a Supreme Court position. Both told him to hang it in his ear.’
Uh, yeah. Trump probably would. I suppose he’s content to see two weak anti-Trumps beneath him rather than one who could rally them all. But Rubio? Maybe he wants the ‘safe border’ vote divided.
Conservatives that don't already support Trump, will with few exceptions, overwhelmingly support him in Nov. over Hillary.
Record turnouts with most all voting straight party ticket will give the house and senate numbers they have never seen before.
The next step will be new leadership in the Senate, House & RNC.
I challenge that notion.
After Tuesday Ted should suspend his campaign, out the GOPe and support Trump. If so he has a chance to be relevant going forward. The GOPe will never let him inside unless he totally cases and shuts up and then only as a tool to fool conservatives.
Trump know exactly what the game is and he is the ONLY one with the independence to do what has to be done.
I liked Cruz but I know longer see any path by which he can win the nomination. He will probably win his home state Tuesday and could win one more if things fall right. Otherwise he will,be second or third. After Tuesday he has very few possibilities. And none with meaningful delegates.
Cruz can help drive the final stake in the GOPe heart and have real influence going forward. If not he will fade into history over the next decade.
Without being beholden to them thar donors - that Cruz's campaign keeps claiming will match emergency donations dollar-for-dollar.......
thought they were already nuclear. Cant imagine what they will try to pull next.
Those were atomic bombs. Next come the hydrogen bombs. If Rubio has a bad night Tuesday,,Romney enters the picture. Either he enters the race or they start trying to get him on the ballot as a third party.
If Trump were not sincere about most of his positions why would be have entered the race. He does not need the money, in fact he is losing tens of millions from the Apprentice and business because of the backlash. He also is spending money on the campaign.
He knows the ga,e and is trying to stop the run off the cliff. I support him because I believe he is the only one capable of succeeding.
Yes,,and they are blocked for business in many states. If .Chick-fil-a had been founded in many blue states they would have folded. Trump started his business in NY and has had to play the game with donations positions to get where he is today. As he has become more successful and powerful he can afford to be his true self.
What does his personal life have to do with what comes across as extensive knowledge about the political situation the US is in?
Roger Stone is a liar. An effective political operative but at any cost. Rubes like you believe and quote him.
