Donald Trump has faced his share of criticism about his comments on immigrants, Muslims, and women while on the campaign trail. Despite the controversies, his political star is shining brighter than ever. The New York Times took a closer look at the people who are backing him in the race to the White House to see just where they stand on the issues.
Specifically, the paper looked at the racial beliefs of the Republican front-runner's supporters. The deep dive into the numbers turned up one startling finding: nearly 20 percent of Trump's supporters did not approve of freeing slaves in the Confederacy.
A YouGov/Economist poll asked respondents if they approved or disapproved of "the executive order that freed all slaves in the states that were in rebellion against the federal government," better known as the Emancipation Proclamation.

Your SILLY, misguided insults are noted. How dense are you? THAT IS WHAT LINCOLN CALLED THEM. I never said ‘people are assets’. I said Lincoln considered them assets of the South....and THEY WERE!

Truth hurts don’t it? YOU started the insults and can’t take the truth.
GLAD to not converse with you. I’ll put you on the list of THREE freepers who can’t read or think. Now, do the same and don’t start your silliness again and all will be just fine!
Whatever you do, don’t admit YOU are WRONG! You tried to call me a bigot, and I don’t take that crap! GOT IT!
Somewhere along the line, this post got adulterated in my buffer.
I am sorry for the mess.
And 80% of Bernie voters are Commies and the other 20% are clueless.
I looked at this poll (link to poll is in this huffpo article)

“The Economist/YouGov Poll
Sample 2000 General Population Respondents Conducted January 15 - 19, 2016”
How they came up with that final figure to pin on Trump voters is specious at best
In 1862,in a letter to Horace Greeley, editor fo New York Tribune, "Lincoln explained that he wasn't particularly concerned about emancipation per se;[snip]...My paramount abject in this struggle is to save the Union and is not to either to 'save or 'to destroy' slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do i; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that. What I do about slavery, and the colored race, I do because I believe it helps to save the Union"
I do YouGov online polling,( though not this one) and have found that the questions more often than not are biased toward the liberal position. And when one goes to the homepage to read the user comments and user generated questions, you’ll find most every liberal position winning out everytime
What % of the general population could even tell you what the Emancipation Proclamation is?
Done, again! If you vote for Trump you are rrrracis!
First of all, as almost any educated Southerner would tell you--the Document did not actually free a single slave--as has been pointed out by many commentators through the generations, since.
In other words, this involves a trick question, designed to be useful for misrepresenting actual beliefs.
The New York Times epitomizes the genre of "politically correct," bullies who try to stifle any dissent from the norms of thought that the Left seeks to impose. The greatest achievement of Donald Trump, todate, is in demonstrating the impotence of the PC bullies. It is probably pretty hard for the New York Times to resist any effort to reimpose their control mechanism, however dishonest the method employed.
Licoln’s unConstitutional power grabs are why obama admires him.
Not this bull shiite again. 100% of Democrats are in a party that fought to keep Blacks as slaves.
“”A YouGov/Economist poll asked respondents if they approved or disapproved of “the executive order that freed all slaves in the states that were in rebellion against the federal government,” better known as the Emancipation Proclamation.””
This sounds like a question that Jesse Watters would ask on college campuses. “When President obozo signed an executive order to free the slaves, did you approve or disapprove?” OR use the actual words (Emancipation Proclamation) and they would be flummoxed....
That would be a hoot...I think we know what the answers would be.
