Businessman Donald Trump appears to be as popular among Republicans in New Jersey as he is in other parts of the country, as a new Rutgers-Eagleton Poll released Tuesday indicates he is by far the preferred candidate of GOP voters in the Garden State.

According to the poll, some 38 percent of New Jersey Republicans said they would choose Trump if they had to cast their primary vote today. U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) is a distant second, garnering just 11 percent of the vote. U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) trails Rubio narrowly, with 10 percent support.

Another one with Hillary crushing Burney. I’m thinking the old guy is toast after SuperTuesday and Hillary can sleep until the convention.

As someone who grew up in New Jersey half a century ago, I'm not all that surprised.

When New Jersey had a contest for the state slogan, the winning entry was rather innocuous. One that didn't win, but epitomized Trump, was, "New Jersey. You got a problem with that?"

I worry we are getting ahead of our selves here. There is a long way to go before this is done and I’m hearing a lot of people assuming Trump has already won. That is not the case, we still need to close the deal. The debate tomorrow night will be important as more and more people start paying attention.

I’m seeing very negative rubio commercials here in Colorado attacking both cruz and Trump in the same chimerical.

Adorable, How could you not vote for Trump after seeing her with her Trump Christmas card?

NJ would support the liberal in the race.

Or a local jobs maker would seem a more fitting reason.

e.g. Trump Plaza hotel and casino on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City, New Jersey, owned by Trump Entertainment Resorts.

As Trump says, always assume that at best, you’re tied. And then go out and VOTE!

Poor Ted, he cannot catch a break. Here again he trails Rubio for 2nd place. The Trump train is rolling right along at 38%. Rubio far back at 11%.
