Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is within 1 point of Ted Cruz in Cruz's home state, according to a poll released Wednesday.
Cruz has 29 percent support in Texas, followed closely by Trump, at 28 percent, and Marco Rubio, at 25 percent, according to an Emerson College poll released Wednesday. John Kasich takes 9 percent support, with Ben Carson at 4 percent.
The poll comes on the heels of Trump's dominant performance in the Nevada caucuses Tuesday, his third straight win in the GOP race.
Texas is one of the dozen states voting on Super Tuesday next week, and the billionaire businessman has made clear that he intends to beat Cruz in his home state.
"I think it's very likely that Mr. Trump can win here in Texas," Trump spokeswoman Katrina Pierson told CNN on Wednesday morning.

Thanks!
Put some ice on it.
Relax, the loss of ted losing will be over soon.
You sole my line! LOL
Trump was 46 in Nevada. He was close
“The big question IS *where ELSE can Cruz win?* (MOST probably nowhere)”
He’s up slightly in Arkansas. Cruz is in death rattle. Colorado is an odd one. Carson leading, followed by Cruz. But those polls are 3 months old. Other than that, it’s all Trump.
Is there info on who is winning the area between Lubbock, Amarillo, and the Panhandle?
Using random ALL CAPS is kind of a sign of crazy.
True dat. He ain’t in a good position at all at this point. Watch for the establishment to try to buy him off with a promise of being Dondi’s running mate.
I haven’t seen anything.
Cognitive dissonance much?
As my dad used to always say, when you are the loser there is always a problem, an issue,a complaint, an offense. You squeal endlessly.
But when you are the winner, the sky is the limit. I love looking at the sky these days.
I was on two Air Force bases during my tour in Germany. I got used to the bombast & BS that emanates from your typical zoomie...lol.
The interservice rivalry was always entertaining. When the chips were down, though, they recognized that we were a major factor as to why our little ADA battery boosted their Base Survivability score.
We knew how to put on dog & pony shows for the evaluators, as we had evaluations from Group, 32nd AADCOM, and USAREUR.
I was in the right place at the right time on my first time in the Wing CP. The Base Disaster Prep Officer overreacted to an NBC warfare input. You can imagine the looks I got when I (an Army 2LT) offered my own recommendation, which was endorsed by the Wing Commander.
Instead of Alarm Red (full MOPP gear), we went to Alarm Yellow (no mask, no MOPP). It was a no brainer for me, as NBC Officer was one of my extra duties. For the next 18 months, I was called to the "Eagles Nest" on every NBC input.
I loved my time in Germany, being stationed on those air bases. It was a truly unique experience, as my first unit was 40 miles from Battalion HQ. Air Force facilities are much nicer than most Army bases, too.
/thread hijack...sorry
Texas also has a 20% threshold (meaning only those candidates who manage to get 20% or more of the vote will count), So that will make it a pure 3-way race among Trump, Rubio, and Cruz.
If Cruz doesn't win Texas, he's probably done. If Trump manages to win Texas by a large margin, Cruz should go back to DC and do his Senate job, because he will have no path to victory. He will exist only as a vote splitter to ensure a brokered convention that the Establishment will control.
Texas allocates the delegates proportionally by Congressional District and Statewide.
3 per each of the 36 CDs, 50%+ gets all, otherwise allocated
47 based upon statewide performance, Majority wins all otherwise allocated
108 CD
.47 Statewide
155 Total

On CNN last night Axelrod speculated that Trump should let Cruz win Texas uncontested so he hangs around longer in a 3 way as it may be more advantages to Trump in the long run.
