Ted Cruz on Whether He Can Beat Trump in Texas: “I Hope So”
PPD ^ | February 22, 2016 | PPD Elections Staff

Posted on 02/22/2016 2:07:28 PM PST by xzins

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz didn’t offer a confident response Sunday when asked if he was going to defeat Donald Trump in his own home state of Texas. When asked on Meet The Press by host Chuck Todd whether he was going to win Texas, Cruz responded with “I hope so.”

Worth noting, an internal campaign poll leaked to PPD last week showed Cruz trailing the national frontrunner in The Lone Star State by single digits. The interview comes after Cruz finished a disappointing third place in South Carolina. He did his best to put a spin on the fact he finished slightly behind Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and way behind Trump despite the electorate being nearly 7 in 10 evangelical Christians.

>>That doesn’t sound confident

He just got bamboozled, in no small part due to the work of bunch of mis-captioning college “journalists”, into firing his communications director.

And people DON’T CARE WHAT THE TRUTH WAS.

How does one exude confidence in such an amorally stacked political context?

Trump would never pick Cruz for VP. Trump is a team worker...

Cruz...Not so much to not at all. I think Cruz is going to lose Texas big time.

"If Cruz can’t take his home state he is in trouble:

If he doesn't win Texas by at least 10 points, AND 5 other states by any margin on March 1st, his campaign is over.

Absolutely over.

He won't have two nickles to rub together...and an immediate need to spend $50mil on advertising in prep for the big show on March 15th.

Or more.

SC was a huge disaster for Cruz. Evangelically-rich SC was supposed to be his best chance for victory...even he said so. He should have won there handily.....but he couldn't even beat the GOPe's beatified Rubio.

TX oughta dump Cruz and elect another Conservative. Cruz is just too weird and creepy.

Cruz is looking more and more like the late unlamented prez candidate,
ex-Texas Gov Rick Perry---two stealth candidates trusting Texans hardly knew.

At first, Cruz (like Perry) looked good....prez material, even. Then candidate Cruz (like Perry) began admitting things that trusting Texans knew nothing about.

Perry shocked his constituents when he admitted in a debate that he was using trusting Texans tax dollars to give illegals in-state tuition. Perry also installed the country's first Sharia Court in Texas....active to this day.

Cruz heaped on the surprises:

<><> I didn't know I was a Canadian citizen when I ran for the Senate until the media exposed it.

<><> I told trusting Texas voters wifey and I were liquidating family assets so I could get into the Senate.

<><> I didnt know I was supposed to tell the FEC I borrowed over a million from my Wall Street margin accounts to fund my campaign.

<><> I told Mark Levin the borrowed funds were used for campaign ads....but I didn't report this as required.

<><> And so on and so forth, ad infinitum, ad nauseaum.

============================================

BACKSTORY Cruz/s Senate election fairy tale has become legendary......portraying himself to trusting Texans as a scrappy populist putting everything on the line to overcome a wealthy establishment opponent.

He was whining in the media, telling trusting Texans that he, and his faithful little wife (a $700,000 globalist lawyer employed by G/S), were forced to liquidate their entire family savings (of slightly more than $1 million) to fuel a come-from-behind win in the Republican primary.

NOW TRUSTING TEXANS LEARN Cruz did not liquidate family assets.....he got his hands on over a million dollars from his hefty margin accounts at G/S and Citibank......and did not disclose this on FEC reports (to keep it a secret from trusting Texans).

Cruz did not disclose loans on FEC reports (required by law) b/c Texans would have discovered he was not the aw-shucks rube he pretended to be. He continued the rube act in order to milk votes from trusting Texans.

At the same time, he also did not disclose he was a dual Canadian citizen......the Harvard-educated lawyer w/ two Ivy League degrees said he didn't know. When the Dallas Morning News published his Canadian birth certificate, Cruz put trusting Texans through the charade of renouncing his Canadian citizenship.....even though Canada did not recognize dual citizenship at that time.

============================================

Cruz (like Perry) didn't know when to keep his mouth shut. Political blunders piled up ... it was one disaster after another. The dumb moves made will be required learning.... what not to do...... for any candidate!

Thanks, Liz. Cruz is nothing like the man he purports himself to be.

You should just read this thread, there are several Cruz supporters (and on many threads) that say they will support Trump. Sorry, but you will have to do a better job convincing them, not me.

"If Cruz can't take his home state he is in trouble going to have to suspend his campaign."

Oh, and start sucking up to Trump if he wants to be AG or a Supreme Court nominee.

Cruz lost Evangelical votes even after Glenn Beck assured us that
Cruz was sent by God to guide us thru the Rapture of winning SC.

Cruz/s wife Heidi said Ted would show us the face of God (above).

Then came the claim that God took Scalia to underscore our need for Cruz.

===================================

The cockamamie idea that God would decide matters of
life and death based on the potential to help Cruz/s
campaign reinforced Cruz/s weird and creepy image.

You are DELUSIONAL and your stupid "psy-ops" can't work on me. LOL

I'm not "afraid of Rubio", nor am I "afraid of Teddy".

Do try to keep abreast of the polls, anecdotal info, and actual unbiased news reports.

This America we are voting for. The Constitution has no edict of piety to any one religion. Follow the Constitution and keep the personal beliefs personal. Harm none that harm you not. Keep collateral damage to a minimum.

"Granted, it is anecdotal info, but friends & family in Texas are NOT for Cruz, even though they were for him when he ran for the Senate seat. "

I'm hearing from all of my friends and family in Texas (small group) that they and many they know are p!ssed at Cruz for not disclosing he was still a Canadian citizen when they spent money and made calls on his behalf.

And as it turns out Texans love Canadians. Who doesn't though?

Seriously - Trump could win out.

Dejected Donors now see the feckless GOPe RNC operators for the losers they are and are probably depressed. Money about ready to get very difficult for most of these campaigns

At some point Cruz's billionaire computer genius dude (Mercer?) predictive algorithms had better start outputting what is pretty clearly the writing on the wall. Otherwise we will begin to wonder about his algorithmic efficacy.

Republicans have no idea how pissed those of us who supported the party our whole life time are at them.

Trump is a once in a lifetime voting opportunity - can't wait to vote for him and not merely against the democrats but against all of the putz nuggets that have been running the nation into the ground.

How do they compare with Hillary’s negatives? Carson has the best favorables of all. It hasn’t done him much good.

___________________________________________________________

Trump’s negatives are about 10% higher than Clinton’s, 60% vs 50% nationally. While positive favorability doesn’t mean people will vote for you, if someone has a negative opinion of you they are unlikely to vote for you. The dems have a billion to spend on negative ads, by the time they get done trump will be killed the only saving grace is that a lot of RINO Senators will go down also.
