"If a Republican president is sworn into office in only 11 months, we are going to be ready," Upton said. "That is the challenge that Speaker [Paul] Ryan put before us." [...]

In laying out the main elements of the Republican replacement proposal, the 15-term congressman also noted that it will remove several key features of the ACA. ...

Upton. Upton. Upton...

Wait — Isn’t this the same upton who gave us that UTTERLY STUPID legislation aimed at phasing out incandescent light bulbs?? Are we talking about THAT Upton?

‘cuz if so; I’m NOT going to hold my breath and wait for this dweeb to strike ANY sort of substantive blow against Obamacare.

Maybe.

But this also assumes you have a GOP president who is serious about repealing it.

I’m not interested in “replacing” it.

It doesn’t need to be replaced....repeal and kill it and return it to the private sector....get the govt OUT of it all together.

It’ll never happen under Donald Trump.

Why do you say that? He’s mentioned he thinks healthcare should stay in the private sector and that medicare already exists. It will be repealed under trump. Nothing is said though about reimbursing people that had to pay the uninsured fines to the IRS. I want that money back as well!

Repeal “and replace”? That’s the weasel language that sets anti-statists ill at ease.

Donald Trump: There’s many different ways, by the way. Everybody’s got to be covered. This is an un-Republican thing for me to say because a lot of times they say, “No, no, the lower 25 percent that can’t afford private. But—”

Scott Pelley: Universal health care.

Donald Trump: I am going to take care of everybody. I don’t care if it costs me votes or not. Everybody’s going to be taken care of much better than they’re taken care of now.

Scott Pelley: The uninsured person is going to be taken care of. How? How?

Donald Trump: They’re going to be taken care of. I would make a deal with existing hospitals to take care of people. And, you know what, if this is probably—

let people die on the street, OK?

Now, some people would say, “that’s not a very Republican thing to say.” Every time I say this at a rally, or even today, I said it — once, it got a standing ovation.

I said, you know, the problem is everybody thinks that you people, as Republicans, hate the concept of taking care of people that are really, really sick and are gonna die.

That’s not single payer, by the way. That’s called heart. We gotta take care of people that can’t take care of themselves. But the plans will be much less expensive than Obamacare, they’ll be far better than Obamacare, you’ll get your doctor, you’ll get everything that you want to get. It’ll be unbelievable.

But you’ve gotta get rid of the lines. You gotta have competition. Those people that are left — we’ve gotta help them live. And everybody likes it when I say it, and that includes Republicans. And it’s not single payer.

NO MANDATE or forcing a person to get no insurance insurance or pay a tax/fine. Anything less is just a waste of time.

Not very long ago, the GOP had the White House, the House and the Senate, and the majority of the Supreme Court appointments had been made by Republican presidents.

All of that "conservative" presence.

What good was it, in the end?

Absolutely nothing.

Time for the GOP to nut up or shut up. If it had been a party of principles and integrity and determination all along, it would not be looking at its self-destruction now.
