The Destroyer Cometh

Donald Trump is running riot in the GOP china shop and gleefully tearing the place up.

Consider the strength of Trump’s position: If he wins South Carolina by a big margin, he goes into Nevada with momentum, and the latest poll there has him leading by 26 points and pushing 50 percent. If he enters Super Tuesday a week later having won three out of the past three states — and with Cruz diminished by a South Carolina loss and Rubio having won nowhere — he could easily win, say, 10 contests that day.

It might still be possible to beat Trump at that point if the field is narrowed (states don’t become winner-take-all until March 15), but doing so would involve wrestling to the ground a candidate who will have cut a formidable swath through the first month of the nomination battle.

Even now, it's hard to imagine a happy outcome for the party from the three likeliest scenarios:

‘I don’t care how “conservative” Cruz is, where has he been the past few years? Why hasn’t he been vocal about all the changes the Democrats have made in our country? I do not know his reasons for not being out front and vocal on these issues, but could he be afraid of standing up to the left?’

Deaf? Blind?

Who did they blame for shutting down government and for what purpose was it done? Just how much more in your face could he have been about Obama care?

There are many speeches on the floor of the senate calling attention to what Obama and DC cartel have been doing. He’s only a senator, not some superman. If you have the courage:

Where is a speech by Trump even close to the above?

So what has Trump actually done with all his wealth to actually make a difference politically until he wanted the Presidency? What cause has he put his wealth and power to?

Name one.

Guys like Rich Lowery, Steve Hayes, Glenn Beck would rather have another weasel goldman sachs politician in charge. How is that been working out lately?

The best way to beat Trump is not even mentioned: do not battle Trump but take up Trump's issues, be flamboyant but more thoughtful and informed than Trump in stating them, blast Obama and the Left, and avoid Trump style obnoxiousness.

In effect, such a candidate would run in Trump's slipstream and then move ahead incrementally or when Trump stumbles. Cruz is trying to do this, but Trump and the other candidates are taking shots designed to hold him back.

What cause has Teump put his wealth too? He just raised and donated out of his own pocket over 6 million dollars a few weeks ago to the Vets. Thats tiny compared to his many other fundraisers and charitable contributions. Do your homework fool!

If Trump wins the nomination outright, many Republican voters may stay home, and senators and members of the House up for reelection will probably scurry their own way, seeking cover from the loose cannon of a nominee.

Why would pubbie voters stay home? Would they consider the hildabutchbitch to be a better President? I know we have many FReepers state that they would never vote for Trump, and if that is really true, they should just leave the Country, because if the bitch became the pResident, and I ever knew a pubbie that refused to vote...

You’re the fool.

Vets aren’t a political cause.

How about his donations to planned parenthood?

How about his donations to the Clinton foundation?

How about his donations to Hillary for senate?

The list is long...

Yes, you are the fool.

So if Trump wins the primary you two will sit out the election - and then complain when Trump didn’t get enough votes to win?

Some people said they wouldn’t vote for Romney - and apparently they didn’t - and we ended up with Obama.

Who are more insane? Those who support status quo career politicians (including Cruz) or those supporting Trump?

Who is running the most efficient campaign? Who is most familiar with the burdens of government regulation? Who helped create the burdens of government regulation? Can those who helped create Fedzilla be entrusted to destroy Fedzilla?

I won’t vote for Trump.

I voted for G.H. Bush twice.

I voted for Dole.

I voted for G.W. Bush twice.

I voted for McCain.

I voted for Romney.

I won’t do it again. Enough is enough. And particularly with Trump. I will not allow him to act in my name. Trump is just another flavor of big government. He has no real use for the constitution or love of it. He has no desire to constrain government to its constitutional limits. He doesn’t value liberty over top down management of the people.

As I understand it, any congressman or senator can get on the floor and make a speech (or in some cases simply send the speech to the congressional records and they print it as if it was given). I don’t care!

My point is, if Trump was not running, many issues now on the table, such as immigration, would never be part of this campaign. Cruz was either unable or unwilling to get out in front on this (of many issues).

If Cruz was outspoken on these issues, why is it that Trump was able to grab the headlines (and the heat).

So I will concede Cruz is a conservative, I will concede that Cruz agrees with me on many issues, but what I will not concede is the fact I do not believe he has it in him to take the heat and that is what we need right now.

As an aside, do not be fooled by the Democrats or the media in their support of Cruz’s citizenship, if he got the nomination they would be in the courts in seconds tying up his campaign and the media would be attacking him on this point forever.

One last thing, I could be wrong, you could very well be right, but for now there is little that can be said that will change my view since it is more emotional then logical. Hope you succeed in convincing the majority that Cruz is the right candidate and that if he runs and wins, he will do the right thing. I will not work against him, just I will not support him until he wins the nomination.

I described what happened last time. We see the results. And a good argument can be made that if you want a liberal, why vote for Trump. Vote for the Democrat.

According to you guys, Trump is doing great and pulling huge crowds with democrats crossing over, etc. That us conservatives are a small and shrinking group so why do you need our vote?

New York's Vietnam Memorial.

The Ice Rink built ahead of schedule and below budget.

That's two.

All that’s needed is an analysis of which states were flipped Rep to Dem when previously voting conservative purists stayed home rather than vote for Romney.

Simply because people like you abandoned him when the chips were down for the bright shiny Trump TV personality - that will betray you in an instant. His positions will continue to “evolve” after he doesn’t need your vote anymore. And you’ll wonder what happened...

Neither is a political cause.

You know, things like restricting abortion if you are really against it.

Pushing for lower taxes and regulation if you really want to see business grow again.

Push to get government out of health care instead of advocating Canadian style health care.

Pushing back on the gun grabbers with actual action instead of advocating a ban on “assault” weapons.

How about not hiring illegals to build your buildings to take a stand against illegal immigration and not calling the guy that is trying to do something about it “mean spirited”?

This list is long.
