Donald J. Trump continues to lead the Republican primary field in South Carolina. Heâs also the candidate the highest number of voters would want to be stuck in an elevator with.
Ben Carson, meanwhile, is widely considered a good person to loan your car to, even among supporters of other candidates.
An automated telephone poll of 416 voters conducted exclusively for Free Times by Crantford Research attempts to tease out some key electoral forces as the state heads into its Feb. 20 GOP primary. It was the first poll conducted since the Feb. 13 GOP debate in Greenville.
Asked who they plan to vote for, 32 percent of respondents in our poll chose Trump. Ted Cruz was at 16 percent, Marco Rubio at 13 percent, Jeb Bush at 12 percent, John Kasich at 9 percent, and Ben Carson at 4 percent. Fourteen percent were undecided.
Our results confirm other polls that show Trump with a double-digit lead.
Crantford Research conducted the Free Times South Carolina GOP Presidential Preference Survey on Feb. 14, 2016. The survey was conducted by telephone using an automatic dialing and phone pad response data collection method. The margin of error for the results of the survey is +/- 4.8 percent.
Trump usually drops a few points after each debate due to his harsh, yet honest, approach. Then after people have a chance to think about what he said, his poll standing rises to a level even higher than before the debate.
Yeah he seems like a very nice guy and i do like him but i dont think hes president material.
He is certainly strong in his ability to stand against anyone, especially the media. We certainly need more of that. But, while a small group of people were standing up against Obamacare, illegal immigration and runaway spending in 2012 and 14, Trump was writing checks to Pelosi, Reid and other liberals.
I'd like him to fight for me, but can't trust that he would always be there.
Yes, I think Trump has it in the bag unless something catastrophic happens. He is just steamrolling through all of it.
Ben Carson is a walking sedative, isn’t he?
The numbers means a growing number of Republican voters are starting to coalesce behind Donald Trump. If Cruz loses big in SC his campaign is in real trouble.
I disagree, Trump is what the founders were thinking about instead of this egregious parasitic political class that
is sucking America’s prosperity well dry.
I was talking about Ben Carson being a nice guy but i dont think Carson is presidental material, i do like carson like said . I support trump all the way
double digit lead with Trump getting double what Cruz, the 2nd place candidate gets. I’d say he’s doing pretty good.
Everyone on TV was predicting that Trump had “crossed the line” and that he would crash and burn in SC because Bush2 is so dearly loved. Guess they were wrong again, as usual.
Trump’s got another 5 rallies planned this week. There isn’t anything planned on Thursday, so I’m going to guess he’ll add a rally on Thursday.
He was also writing checks to Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, the Republican Governor’s Association, Rick Perry and others. Or did you conveniently overlook that? He was a businessman and high rolling businessmen contribute to both parties.
They didn’t find any WMD. There were some reports years later that they found then in Syria, but, this received very little news attention. I guess too many years had passed and people just weren’t that interested, or maybe it wasn’t ture - who know?
Let me ask you this-how can you trust any politician? Really, how can you after the lies they have told and the way they have sold us out. And, remember this -e ven though the Ds and Rs pretend to go after each other - it’s all a dog and pony show anyway. There is only one party - the Uniparty, and yes, Ted belongs to it also. He’s not an outsider like he pretends to be. IN fact, I’m not sure anything about him is real at this point. If you haven’t had it up to your neck in lying, cheating, corrupt politicians, then I don’t know what else to say.
Trump may be a wild card but past experience shows beyond doubt that you cannot trust any of the GOP professional politicians to do as they say.
Agree.
It's organizations like Planned Parenthood sucking us dry, that REALLY drive me crazy. Even the "good stuff" they do. But the baby killing...that's pretty hard to overlook.
Why don’t you check out who else he was writing checks for in 2012 and 2014. You will be VERY surprised! IOW don’t believe all you hear from the anti-Trump people. Aw heck, i’ll save you the trouble for 2012:

Let’s jump ahead 3 months:
Hillary has been indicted and Bernie is going to be the Dem nominee.
Trump has gone third party.
Cruz is the projected Republican nominee.
Bloomberg has jumped into the race as an Independent.
Who wins?
No one is surprised.. he said he did it all the time - He says he played the game, that’s why he knows it best.
Trump has almost half of the American voters support...and we are behind him 100%...we are in front of him, to the side of him, and in back on him....all the way to the Oval Office!!!
GO.TRUMP.GO!!!
Apparently Trumo’s supporters will transition to his 3rd party candidacy which gives the White House to democrats.
Spit.
