We must have an immediate Scalia autopsy
American Thinker ^ | 02/16/2016 | James Lewis

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia has died, deeply mourned by his friends and admirers, while liberals are happily celebrating his demise (in their usual indecent fashion). La Raza, radical environmentalists, and the affirmative action establishment are celebrating today.

Scalia's sudden death leaves a 4-4 split on the Court, neutralizing the power of the Court until a ninth justice is confirmed. But Obama might try to make a recess appointment, thereby sabotaging the Senate's advice and consent role. He has already done that with the fraud-filled Iranian nuclear surrender "treaty."

[SNIP]

Justice Scalia's sudden passing may have been due to natural causes. But for the first time since the assassinations of JFK and Martin Luther King, Jr., many Americans are sincerely wondering what might have happened. They are not just on the paranoid fringe.

President Obama is constantly claiming unconstitutional powers, something that Justice Scalia opposed with all the intellectual force at his command. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court itself has come under serious criticism ever since Chief Justice Roberts issued self-contradictory opinions favoring Obamacare. Hillary Clinton is being credibly accused of national security felonies as secretary of state, and the DOJ and FBI are said to be at odds on indicting Hillary. If she becomes president, there is likely to be a bloodbath in the permanent government in D.C. A perfect storm is rising in American politics.

As we can tell from the jubilation on the left, Justice Scalia had hateful enemies, and he must have received death threats, which the FBI must now re-examine. The American public must also know on whose authority an obviously necessary post-mortem examination was avoided. The best way to restore public trust is to appoint a bipartisan congressional committee to oversee a medical pathology team.

Just saw where Scalia wrote in a will he wants to be cremated

Did the law enforcement that showed up finally— did they take “scene” photos to define what that meant? Did the owner, who discovered him... move the pillow? There has to be some kind of follow up with or without a post mortem, which very much CAN be done after embalming.

I'd have to say that the family has the right to decline it...

I must respectfully disagree. If you chose to live a private life, then yes, your family's wishes should be respected.

But if you choose to live a public life, then the situation changes. The search for truth trumps the wishes of your family.

It certainly isn’t odd for an 80 year old to have a heart attack or whatever it was.

If he had shown some significant signs of heart failure or was infirm, I would agree. But all signs pointed to the fact that he was pretty spry for an old geezer. Generally people that age who are not otherwise unhealthy die of heart attacks when they over exert themselves, but not when they are sleeping.

This is a very mysterious death. And a very convenient one as well.

If you smothered someone with a pillow and wanted to make it look like natural causes, would you leave the pillow on his face

Probably not but you would leave tooth impressions on the inside of the lips.

If there is any kind of question — and sometimes when there isn’t — there is an autopsy.

I don’t see any reason that that process should be changed.

If the President were to suddenly pass away, Leftists would fly into a rage - and immediately ask WHY Right wingers and the Tea Party had killed him and demand they all be rounded up for interrogation, etc. This would be repeated — for numerous news cycles.

They’d skip the call for autopsy entirely.

Sorry, that was uncalled for on my part.

There should be no questions in this matter to the extent they are avoidable.

I doubt he was smothered by a pillow. It could be a calling card.

Like a horse head.

One guy on twitter said that maybe Scalia put it over his head in a last attempt to show he was murdered. I had to laugh at that one.

I can’t really form an opinion as to what happened but the whole thing is Hinky.

After Obergfell, Kennedy didn’t have any room to complain about anyone else’s verbal gymnastics, did he?

I’ve had a mother, a brother and a cousin all die in their sleep, all at the age of 79. The heart just stops. I see nothing unusual about this.

Someone from TX tell us... the standard procedure, which should include blood samples/enzymes testing. A kit done by EMS on site (even much later) and chain of custody of the samples.

No— it is NOT CIS “middle of nowhere” but there IS TX law describing what must be done— beyond “declaring” one dead.
Pronouncement can be done by any medical professional in most states. But, causality?

Well, let’s hope the personal physician’s statement, to be added to the Death Certificate later this week (with judbes decaration), gives some reasonable closure.

A recess nomination by Ike. Appointment by the Senate, when in session. My point exactly. No appointment possible directly.

As for Washington— that’s way back— will have to check on the actual Congressional Record (as such, back then).

I agree. Apparently, he was in Texas to go hunting, not a sport for an infirm man.

Better to just do the autopsy.

The only advantage to not doing the autopsy would be a possible public outcry of conspiracy. That would justify holding up any appointment of any replacement.

You can’t have a suspicious death, a suspicious burial, and then allow a nation-changing decision to be made by a radical who was on the exact opposite side of the law as the deceased possible victim.

So the government should over rule the wishes of the family.

Sure. Paying ransom is illegal in the US, too. And any question with any other death anyplace in the US normally triggers an autopsy.

It's policy to prevent something worse.

Isn't cremation an unusual request for a traditional Catholic, as I understand Justice Scalia was? Burial is characteristic for Catholic and other Christian practice.
