Amid Scalia Assassination Buzz, Obama May Appoint Successor Without Senate Approval

Shock surrounding the mysterious death of Justice Scalia is compounded by the realization that President Obama may take the extreme authoritarian step of using a recess appointment to put Scalia’s successor on the bench. This would allow Obama to put a far-left jurist on the court to swing the balance on important cases on the docket this year dealing with Obamacare, gun control, abortion, illegal immigration, religious liberty, energy and environmental regulation, labor union power, voting rights, and affirmative action....

Sources in Congress tell us that this week would be the most opportune time for Obama to make a recess appointment. The Senate is in recess now until Feb. 22. They gaveled out, and according to the adjournment resolution, the upper chamber can only come back from recess with concurrence from Minority Leader Harry Reid, the fiercely partisan Democrat. This gives Obama seven days to do the deed before the window closes for good, because once Congress is back from recess, Republicans can use parliamentary maneuvers to make sure they don’t adjourn for the rest of the year.

right, a super assassin would plan everything so perfect... then just to leave a pillow there.
= = =

You are falling into the trap.

Super assassin killed him, then left the obvious pillow as a false trail.

Really? So say someone off’s Scalia and winds up leaving the pillow over his head? How dumb would that be? To me it seems Scalia just wanted to nap and the room was too bright so he puts a pillow over his head to cut out the light. A simple look by an EMT at his eyes to see if there were any hemorrhaging of the blood vessels that would show suffocation. IMHO

He will pick a black female. It will be a relentless onslaught of “Republicans are Racist! War On Women! Racist, Racist! War On Women!”

That will be campaign theme for the Democrat nominee. Their logic is becoming clearer. They will use this to bring out the Black and Democrat vote.

You are very much is right, stuff like this do make us look very, very bad indeed.

And your sentence there makes us look even worse.

I applaud your ongoing battle with English, even though you are clearly losing badly.

Isn’t it just amazing how a vacancy just happened to open up on SCOTUS in Barry Hussien Soetoros last year in office with gun control and other liberal attack issues going before the courts.

Speaking of criminals, what if baraq picks Hillary for the supreme court? He would create all kind of chaos in the election and he would get a loyal commie on the court.

I would bet slick willie would be all for that. Hillary would be tied up in DC and he would be free to roam around chasing skirts.

It’s gonna be Loretta Lynch.

She’s black, female, and too many Senate Pubbies have already voted to confirm her once. Obama will have great fun watching them twist in the breeze all Summer.

When is the Senate in recess? How the hell can anyone figure that out. I defy anyone to understand the rules which are laid out here:

I’m thinking Godwin Liu, the First Asian ... would be very difficult to fight that.

It’s SO coincidental that a SCJ would pass away at the perfect “opportune time” for Obama to insert a leftist stooge/judge. Amazing!

Doubt it. The house agreed to the resolution. They are in a intersession recess.

It is fascinating that the recess is at the 10 day mark. Scalia had interesting things to say about the length of time of a recess in Canning. 10 days MIGHT be enough for a Recess Appointment.

It’s coming from people who do not know how to read and understand the Resolution. It took me some digging to figure it out because I had never looked at how it works.
