Washington: The Obama administration on Friday notified the US Congress of its decision to sell eight F-16 fighter jets to Pakistan worth nearly $700 million.

Upset with the decision, Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Vikas Swarup said,"We are disappointed at the decision of the Obama Administration to notify the sale of F-16 aircraft to Pakistan."

He also said that India disagrees with the rationale of the US that such arms transfers help to combat terrorism. The MEA will summon US ambassador to convey India's displeasure over the decision of the Obama government.

Despite mounting opposition from influential lawmakers from both the Republican and Democratic parties, the US State Department on Friday, notified the Congress that it has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Pakistan for F-16 Block 52 Aircraft, equipment, training, and logistics support.

The estimated cost is $699.4 million, the Defence Security Cooperation Agency - a wing of the Pentagon - said in a statement, adding that this proposed sale contributes to the US foreign policy objectives and national security goals by helping to improve the security of a strategic partner in South Asia.

Well, it just makes sense -- India is primarily a Hindu country. Why should they have cool weapons?
Pock-i-stan, on the other hand, is a crazy Muslim jihadist country with nukes. Of course, we sell weapons to them!

I’m disappointed as well. Pakistan showed how trustworthy they were by hiding Bin Laden all those years.
The Pakistani ISI started the Taliban.

Justifiably. Selling weapons to a country that has a decades-long history of sponsoring terrorism doesn't sound like the most effective anti-terror strategy to me.

Funny how Obama etc played up the capture of Osama Bin Laden, who was hiding in plain sight in Pakistan, aided & abetted by them, yet they reward these snakes with this.

Its counterintuitive. Giving arms to terrorists helps fight terrorists. Fighting terrorists just makes them grow stronger. Black is white. 2 + 2 = whatever I say it equals.

The more radical the Islamic regime, the more Hussein Obama likes it. And Pock-ee-ston sure fits the bill.

Exactly. We have the wrong side, again, thanks to the MB in DC.

So India has to look around, or do we sell to them too?

I sure don’t want to drive India into another camp.

Americans should be 'disappointed' as well - why are we arming a radical failed state which harbored Osama bin Laden for a decade and fostered the Taliban? Why are we continuing to help our enemies?

Why are we continuing to help our enemies?

Because Obama IS the enemy. He's seemingly gone out of his way (with his actions) to make that clear -- supporting the Iranian mullahs every step of the way, initiating the so-called "Arab Spring" by backing the Muslim Brotherhood (Morsi) in Egypt, and helping to create and refusing to extinguish ISIS. Obama is a radical's radical, and has the exact same aim as any other jihadi. Just a lot more power.

Pakistan also hid Bin Ladin and locked a citizen who betrayed him.

The US isn’t selling to our enemies. Our Terrorist in Chief is aiding and abetting our enemies.

Pawk-Eee-stan harbors terrorists.

Now we aid and abet them.

The eagle weeps.
