For the first time since combat operations were declared over at the end of 2014, a battalion of 500 U.S. Army infantrymen is being sent to southern Afghanistan's volatile Helmand Province where the Taliban have made a comeback, Fox News has learned.
The decision, confirmed by defense officials, is a sign of military escalation in the country even as the Obama administration tries to draw down.
The battalion is meant to relieve a company of 150 soldiers, giving the U.S. Army nearly 350 more soldiers to prevent the Taliban from taking over volatile Helmand province. The Army's 2-87 infantry battalion, part of the 10th Mountain Division based at Ft. Drum, N.Y., was scheduled to deploy to Bagram Airbase in Afghanistan this winter -- but instead will be sent to Helmand, according to defense officials familiar with the order.

Am thinking the first step in winning this war is to make winning the objective. Obviously with this president and Haaarvard sensibilities . . . winning is not the objective. That was values of days gone by.

I agree with Mr. Trump, why is our administration or military blabbing this information to the enemy. As Mr. Trump would say, General Patton did everything he directed as a surprise to the enemy. Obama is a complete failure as commander and chief of the military.
My understanding is that ROEs preclude soldiers from firing on any “civilian” structure, which basically means no return fire on any building in Afghanistan. Add that to not being anle to fire on those who toss down their rifle only to move to another plus many other absurdities...and the stupidity of COIN as a military strategy..partnering with child raping Pashtuns...training Taliban moles who turn their weapon on American soldiers...its a far cry from the days of Iwo Jima.
ROE is to leave the boy rapers alone.
The point is to murder more of our forces.
