The investigation into the contamination of the drinking water in Flint, Michigan could result in criminal charges for those responsible, including potential involuntary manslaughter charges that are punishable by up to 15 years in prison. That’s according to the state’s Attorney General-appointed special counsel, Todd Flood, who addressed the media on Tuesday alongside state investigators, who are still trying to untangle who knew what and when, in an effort to get to the bottom of water crisis in the city. There are also civil actions that could be undertaken, Flood said.
Here’s more on potential next steps from Flood via the Detroit News:
“It’s not far-fetched” to imagine involuntary manslaughter charges in the case, Flood told reporters...

Yeah, Right.
this may be series.
Someone at Slate needs to study federal case law on this matter. Nope. Ain't gonna happen.
What is funny about this, the “politicians” haven’t a clue how a water supply works. It will be fun to see them “get to the bottom” of the “incident.” Technically, they’ll never understand it as a “technician” would in about 5 minutes. But it will be fun to watch them “follow the money” and find out why the water supply was switched. The charge shouldn’t be manslaughter, it should be corruption. (And I don’t think corruption is a crime in the USA these days).
But Hillary said the Republican Governor “POISONED” the children last night......
Well I understand the story was the pH of the supply changed which leached lead out of other pipes.
Most water standards have some margin of safety in them. How grossly bad did Flint get? Was it just pushing the line or was it into a known harm zone?
Having previously served as a city council member, I was keenly aware that allowing raw sewage to flow into the streams and rivers could result in imprisonment. The EPA takes that s*** seriously. But manslaughter for this is a stretch.
I think what this is, is the By Any Means Necessary (BAMN) freaks setting up Gov. Snyder when it is they who are the criminals. To us regular folk, we may notice how BAMN is currently engaged in protests in Detroit over the DPS situation as a diversion to make it appear as thought they have nothing to do with the situation in Flint. BTW, is Michael Moore out of the hospital yet?
This media circus is really getting stupid now.
I’m looking for an analysis done by a Freeper a few weeks ago. Basically, lead levels increased, but by small amounts, which are still below FDA standards of only a couple years ago, as I recall.
This would be in the state court, not federal. That said, what federal case law do you think has bearing on the matter?
Did they have a death?
DK
I ran a small system. We had to test pH every month, and report the results to the epa. We regulated the pH with a treatment called Aquamag. No problems.
Think reading where, they changed water suppliers to save money.
WLNS-TV posted the latest collection of released emails.

I live in the area. (I have a WELL for my water)
Been watching everybody on Facebook screaming for the REPUBLICAN Governors head. Never mind he’s been in office only 5 years and is Governor of the STATE, it’s futile to argue with these folks that a problem like this is YEARS, if not decades in the works.
I don’t even delve into the details to know that corrupt CITY people have mimicked the Federal government and used money that we SUPPOSED to go to maintaining the water works for their own fun and profit.
Years and years of this corruption and we end up with the problem we have now.
So let’s blame the current Governor cos he’s a REPUBLICAN! I’m not absolving him from his share of the blame for I’ve read he had some knowledge of the problem and kept quiet.
But Granholm had to know about this too.
I’m amazed at how folks here are saying this is a complete REPUBLICAN doing - when Flint has been run solely by Democrats since the seventies. (At least!)
For Democrats, corruption is a job requirement.

IIRC they announced that they planned to change water suppliers to save money - and then were forced to switch immediately because the other supplier shut the valve on them.
The Federal Claims Tort Act has it's little sister versions among the states and municipalities.
My daughter is an environmental lawyer. There is no money in going after any level of government for such matters. Now private entities......that's another matter.
Did someone die from the water?
Thanks for the information.
Think they will try to blame the original supplier?
Whatever come.............It’s not our fault! ETC.
