Critics are blasting Hillary Clinton for claiming at Thursday night's Democratic debate nothing will come of the FBI probe into her email practices and seizing on reports that other former officials received classified information on personal accounts -- saying she's glossing over glaring differences between her case and theirs.
"The attempt to paint her predecessors in the State Department as equal offenders in mishandling classified material is an insult to what we now know to be the truth," Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., said in a statement Thursday, calling the argument an "everybody did it" defense.
Clinton pointed at the debate to emerging reports that former Secretary of State Colin Powell and the immediate staff of former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice also received classified security information on their personal email accounts.
But the dozen emails reportedly connected to those cases represent a fraction of the more than 1,600 now-classified emails found on Clinton's server. Further, no other secretary of state set up a private, "homebrew" server as she did.
"We're talking apples and oranges here," the National Journal's Ron Fournier told Fox News.
"Official investigations have confirmed that Secretary Clinton's unsecure server stored more than 1,000 emails containing classified information, including some classified at the very highest levels," Issa said in his statement, put out earlier Thursday. "Her guarantee to the nation that the number was zero now seems more like desperation than news cycle spin."

Since when does a SoS have the names of assets on the field? Wouldn’t they be protected by the handlers? off topic, just asking.
I’m a humble retired lawyer in Kansas who has occasionally done Hague cases regarding international child abduction. I’ve gotten several “confidential” emails from the State Department even though I have NO security clearance. So to say that Condie Rice got a dozen confidential and classified emails says pretty much nothing. She could have gotten one classified email and 11 confidential. The State Department is playing us.
Everybody had private servers in their bathroom or basement at their house, or had a personal assistant who was a ‘honey trap’ spy for the Muslim Brotherhood?
You make a great point. With most SOS it’s a rarity, with her it was the norm so she could not be held accountable.
It could be assets working under a consular cover, thus risking their cover.

This is a typical defense used by commie libs when they get caught. Most normal, intelligent Americans don’t buy that childish, “Well, everybody does it!” defense.
Anyone know if they tried that as a defense at Nuremberg? Or, did they choose to go ahead a be hung because it was just too lame.
Ha! Don’t know if anyone tried to use that defense but a fair number of necks were stretched.
The media willingly helped her by telling everybody about those emails that Powell and Rice received, not sent.
This woman’s 15 minutes were up 20 years ago.

Her being elected a US Senator then nominated by 0bama and confirmed for SOS and her now being the lead Rat contender for president goes to show just how corrupt our political system has become.
Especially in light of her criminal activity on behalf of her husband.
