AUSTIN - Ted Cruz leads a new presidential primary poll in Texas, just over a month before the U.S. senator will face his home-state voters in the much-anticipated Super Tuesday contest.

A KTVT-TV/Dixie Strategies survey released Thursday shows Cruz at 30 percent among likely GOP primary voters in Texas. He's followed by mogul Donald Trump at 25 percent, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida at 12 percent and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush at 8 percent.

That's a change from October, when the same pollsters said Cruz was trailing in Texas behind Trump and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson.

The latest poll, which has an error margin of plus-minus 3.1 percentage points, contacted 1,001 likely GOP primary voters on Monday and Tuesday. It appears that Dixie Strategies uses automated telephone interviews, which some experts say are less reliable than other methods.

Jan 4, 2015 Breitbart: SEC Primary on March 1 Could Narrow GOP Field to Just Two: Perhaps Trump and Cruz

"Iowa, with its first-in-the-nation caucuses on February 1, New Hampshire with its first-in-the-nation primary on February 9, South Carolina, with its first-in-the-South February 20 primary, and Nevada with its February 23 caucuses get the electoral process started.

In contrast, the eleven states holding primaries or caucuses on March 1—the so-called SEC primary—will have a significant impact on the allocation of delegates and have the potential to narrow the race for the GOP nomination down to just two candidates—and they could be Donald Trump and Senator Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX).".......

Really. 5 points is all? He was up a lot more than that at the start. Thought Rick Perry would have helped him.

It will be unless the purple states get to pick the candidate before we vote.

That's what I was thinking ... you would expect a 40+ point lead in Texas for Cruz.

Perhaps this poll cannot be trusted ...

Didn’t Cruz lead Trump in Texas last month by 15 points. 30-15? Cruz has lost alot of ground and it’s now tight in Texas, Cruz’ home turf!

What will the Cruzaholics say if Cruz loses Texas in the primary?

New audio obtained exclusively by Breitbart News indicates that as the Iowa caucuses began on Monday night, the Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)97%
campaign called precinct captains informing them that Dr. Ben Carson was suspending campaigning, and instructing them to tell voters they should “not waste a vote on Ben Carson and vote for Ted Cruz.”

The calls were placed after the Carson campaign had already clarified that Carson was not suspending his campaign.

Notice Cruz placed the calls AFTER
THAT’S AFTER
Carson had already clarified no suspension.

After.

Yet Cruz went forward with the lie. And now it’s on audio. Times and everything.

Why? You think Texans are in love with Cruz. What has he done for Texans?

Never doubt Republican voters’ propensity to fall back on old habits, even if they know they are poor habits.

“You would think it would be more”

It is more! Keep in mind that Trump’s poll numbers are over inflated by 10-20% on average and Cruz’s is under polled by 8-10% on average...just like in Iowa. Trump won’t break 20% here in Texas!

You know... the Trump melt down is going to be EPIC at some point. We got just a glimpse of it this past week. When this moron doesn’t win... it will be one for the history books. He’ll probably stroke out....

This is a KTVT-TV/Dixie Strategies survey that had Cruz DOWN before but NOW Cruz is UP.

There may be other polls out there.
