Do Not Close The Book On Carly Fiorina
Townhall.com ^ | February 4, 2016 | Ken Blackwell

Scott Walker, Rick Perry, Bobby Jindal, Mike Huckabee and now Rand Paul.  All were considered to be serious candidates for the Republican nomination for president and all have dropped out.

Carly Fiorina began the campaign with far less name recognition, far less money, and yet her national profile has grown and when she speaks people hang on every word.  She has far outlasted the so-called heavyweights, do not count her out.

While I have yet to endorse  in the GOP presidential race, what has so impressed me about Carly is the drive, persistence and consistency she has shown throughout the entire process.  She is undaunted and undeterred, and that's what it takes to go the distance when one plays at this level.

Carly's campaign reflects the characteristics of her American dream life story.  She exceeds expectations, she innovates and persuades, she fashions a consensus and gets buy-in from others, she rises to a position of leadership and succeeds.

Less than a month after she announced her candidacy, in an interview with NBC's Andrea Mitchell, she appeared she laid out a specific strategy to defeat ISIS - six months before the terrorist attacks in Paris and California. All of the other bigger names with more money only talked in generalities, Carly knew ahead of time what needed to be done; if that isn't presidential I don't know what is.

The contrast with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama couldn't be more clear.  Carly's sober, specific approach - anticipating the problem before it happens - versus their numerous foreign policy failures and feckless policies that have left America and her allies vulnerable.

This is what Americans are looking for in their next president after eight years of frustration and disappointment.

Here at home Carly has been at the forefront of advocating for Republican leaders to take a far more aggressive stance on the key issues that matter so deeply to people.  Issues that, frankly, the GOP has promised action on but has too often capitulated when it came to crunch time.

Her call last September for former House Speaker John Boehner to resign, if he and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell didn't produce results was followed by his decision to do exactly that just a few weeks later.  She has repeatedly and publicly displayed the courage to challenge the status quo in Washington; she doesn't put up with broken promises and empty lip-service.

No one has shown more courage than Carly when it comes to taking on Planned Parenthood in the aftermath of those staggering videos in which their officials casually and dismissively discuss trafficking for the body parts and organs of aborted babies.  She took an issue the media refused to touch, an issue politicians refused to touch, and put it squarely on the front burner while on a nationally televised debate stage.

This is a not a person who gives up, this is a leader who will fight as long as it takes to win.  There's a reason why so many people continuously say they'd pay good money - as would I - to see Carly Fiorina debate Hillary Clinton.

Every conservative and Republican, whether they say so publicly or privately, would love to see that debate because it would be a slam dunk for Carly and a prelude to winning back the White House.

I hope she hangs in there for a long while. We all benefit!from her engagement!

Looks like she won’t make the debate Saturday night...at least based upon the ABC invitation criteria....?

Carly can take on Hillary in a way no man can. Ask Rick Lazio. I hope Carly stays in long enough to direct attention where it belongs—on HRC.

Back during the OJ trial, I remember watching Marcia Clark and that she came across to me as competent and tough.
I was surprised by how many people said “She’s so bitchy”.
It’s a matter or perspective I think.
Give Carly credit, she’s one of the few people to take Hilary to task on the abortion issue.

Trump, Jeb and iCarly all have something in common. They’ve all supported Hilary Clinton one way or another.

Trump and iCarly have been effusive in their praise for, and respect for, Hillary Clinton.

Jeb and iCarly have each actually given Hillary Clinton awards for being so great in their eyes.

And Trump and iCarly have both donated huge amounts to the Clinton Foundation.

iCarly has been a full on Clintonista, taking part in Clinton Foundation events, sharing the stage in a place of honor with Bill Clinton himself.

None of these three, Trump, Jeb or iCarly are worth a plugged nickel.

“I remember watching Marcia Clark and that she came across to me as competent and tough.”

She clearly wasn’t.

She was more competent at having sex with her co-prosecutor than convicting the murderer.

She killed Lucent, she killed HP, don’t let her near the White House.

It's what I've been saying for a long time. While it may sound PC to be glad both Carson and Fiorina were running, it's simply the truth. Their performance has been an antidote in public discourse about Republicans being 'the party of old white men.' It's useful. Their intelligence and candor has refuted any suggestion that they were put up for show (unlike JC Watts).

BTW, I've been wondering whatever happened to Alan Keyes? Beyond his dabbling in the AIP, it seems he simply dropped off the edge of the planet.

Yeah, the "bitchy" thing is really kind of disappointing. There obviously are truly bitchy types who cackle and shriek. Both Clark and Fiorina are simply professional women.

I'm not anything close to a feminist, and spent a good portion of yesterday ranting about women in combat specialities. The PC stuff is ridiculous, and women are actually more privileged than working men in a great many businesses and organizations.

But there really do seem to be some guys who equate a competent, professional woman with being a bitch. That's unfortunate, because it partially validates the whining of some feminists.

Perhaps more co derivatives should read up on Thatcher. She was very often ridiculed by men for the sound of her voice "nails on chalkboard" one called it, told to get back in the kitchen, etc..

Sad to see some conservatives so eager to engage that stereotype.

Thank you. Expressed my sentiments quite nicely. On this site, I suppose one could be excused for being afraid to express their like for Ms. Fiorina, as she is bashed so often for either her looks, her intellect, her experience, etc. Frankly, I like her. She’s actually my second choice candidate.

Mine too, though it is pretty clear she doesn't have a chance. Sometimes comes across as the most professional and presidential of the bunch up there.

Trump wouldn't want her - and vice-versa - and Cruz wouldn't pick her. But if someone else.manages to win the nomination, she'd be a great non-politician to add to the ticket.

Oops. What page were we on? ;p

Look, personally I don't dislike her, good speaker, I could support her if need be, she has zero chance at the POTUS nomination though. The kindling hasn't caught and it ain't gonna.
