...What has not been said much throughout the day is that Florida Senator Marco Rubio’s campaign worked actively to spread the message that Carson was leaving the presidential race. These actions were reported on Twitter by Conrad Close who, according to his Twitter profile, is the managing editor of Outset Magazine.

I am leaning towards simple sloppy reporting by CNN, it very well may have been CNN’s goal to target Trump, Cruz, and Rubio . . . their favored boy being Kasich or Yeb.
But Carson was going “home” to FL ... NOT to quit, but to get stuff, then proced to NH and keep campaigning. Cruz was correct to say it, was correct to apologize when the circumstances were clear. Trump was wrong to jump in so fast - again with incorrect info.
But CNN? they are out to destroy ALL of the repubbie candidates. But only in the right order. Preserve Bush (now Rubio!), Kastitch, Cristie, etc as long as possible while destroying the two Trump and Cruz.
In spite of all the arguments here, and Trump threatening to sue, and Cruz apologizing, the “Carson is possibly quitting” story is a big fat nothingburger.

Maybe because his campaign passed on wrong information from CNN? Could it be as simple as that?
And just who thinks Carson is a serious contender at this point?

That Carson was not quitting. It’s implied strongly in this situation.
I strongly suspect Carson told them expressly he was not quitting and CNN just “forgot” that part.

Carson may not be a strong contender, but if the votes got redirected to Cruz and Rubio, then the results were skewed.
This needs to be exposed - I agree with Trump fighting back against sleazy, lying politicians wherever he finds them.
Be honest, you’re pissed off about the mailers — even though they’ve been used many times before by republicans — because they worked and gave Cruz the highest vote total in Iowa caucus history. Republican turnout set a record. That record turnout didn’t help your guy like it was supposed to so now you’re upset. Tough. Stop whining about stuff that doesn’t matter.

CRUZ’S people knew why CARSON did want to go to New Hampshire. All of CARSON’S paid New Hampshire staff quit and joined the CRUZ campaign in mid-January.
You seem to be projecting here. We can only go by what is written. You have no idea what Carson told CNN. Neither did Cruz campaign so they too should have stuck to the info they had.
That doesn’t make sense. Carson’s votes would go to Cruz, not Trump.
Rape? Nice try Saul. Carson and/or his team reported that he was going to leave the good ole campaign trail to do his laundry. They stated he would not be going to New Hampshire or South Carolina the following day, to give him time to was his clothes. They then informed the press that he would return to the National Prayer breakfast. No other reported campaign stops. Sorry this is insane and says a lot about what kind of leader he would be. It’s entirely ethical and logical to assume the guy is not all in on the campaign and combined with the CNN report that he is dropping out. No dirty tricks, no theft, no christian victim.
No campaign is so inept as to say you are not going to NH and SC, but taking a break and not add that the candidate is not quitting.
They would have had to know CNN would run with a rumor that Carson was quitting unless they stated the negative.
Right. Did you ever read Trump's book on the art of the deal? The book is filled with stories where he intentionally lied to people to obtain the upper hand in negotiations. Glass house, meet stones.
