RUSH LIMBAUGH: Rubio Is Not an Establishment Moderate
rushlimbaugh.com ^ | February 02, 2016 | Rush Limbaugh

TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I have to say one thing, one more thing, one more time. I do not like -- and I've got a Reuters story: "Marco Rubio Emerges Champion of Battered Republican Establishment." Another Reuters story, headline: "Republican Cruz Calls Iowa Win a Victory for Conservative Grassroots." I do not like, speaking for myself, I don't like this idea that Marco Rubio is all of a sudden being labeled as an establishment candidate.

I know that Rubio's got the baggage of that Gang of Eight bill and I know that in many people's minds he's got the baggage of wanting to grant the current number of illegals citizenship. I understand that. But Marco Rubio is no moderate Republican centrist. I could sit here like anybody else could and try to make explanations for you for why he did the Gang of Eight. I'm not even gonna try to put words into his mouth. I don't want to be seen as making excuses. I'm just telling you, I don't see Marco Rubio as anything other than a legitimate, full-throated conservative. Nobody's pure, and nobody is ever free of making mistakes.

I know Senator Rubio. It's like I was telling you last week: I know these people. I know that Senator Rubio in the Senate... In many ways, he agrees with Cruz about things. He's worn out with the Senate. The Senate... I heard this from Allen West when he left the House. I've heard, "The incumbents, that's all they care about is being reelected. You go there to make a difference and you run into brick wall after brick wall after brick wall." I don't think... You know, Rubio, I don't think he wants to stay there 30 years to break through the wall to get a committee chairmanship or whatever.

I just don't like this idea that all of a sudden we're gonna make Rubio the establishment bad guy, as though Rubio is no different than the McCains and the Bob Doles and the Romneys and the others that have come along and been nominated by the establishment. He just isn't. He has not been talked out of his conservatism. He does not abandon it. He had the best end-of-the-evening speech of anybody last night. He had the best end-of-the-evening speech of anybody. And even the media was dazzled by the fact that he did it without a teleprompter.

They continue to be dazzled by that. (chuckling) Of course, Barack Hussein O can't do anything without a teleprompter. I just don't want to... We had three genuine Reaganites triumph last night, and Rubio did better than a lot of people thought he was gonna do -- and to me, that is very important. It is crucially important for conservatism, for Reaganism, for the future of the Republican Party. I'm just not comfortable here sitting and watching somebody end up maybe being destroyed because of a characterization of being "establishment."

Yeah, the establishment may embrace him because they hate Cruz and they're not gonna embrace Trump, and their real preferences can't get any traction. (That would be Jeb and Kasich and Christie.) So they've gotta go with somebody. But I'm never gonna be one that sees Marco Rubio as the establishment, as we talk about it every day here on this program.

Being a member of the Gang of 8 is the political equivalent of Betraying Jesus, its not as Rush said, a ‘Mistake’.

Was waiting , but thank you for that information.

Seems some can’t help themselves or they are paid staffers for a side or the establishment and are here to stir crap up.

It was like how the media picked Romney, especially FOX.

You are correct though on all points.

"I stopped listening to Rush a few months ago."

Try "The Kuhner Man" Jeff Kuhner, WRKO 680 am out of Boston. It has been 7 months or more for me listening to Jeff, this guy is good. Talk of him going national is real, hopefully soon...

Listen on line or download their free app.

That is because Rush knows Rubio is the GOPE pick and he will get the nomination.

Notice I don’t say win. It will be given to him.

What Rush is neglecting to mention is that Marco is pals and best buds with John McCain and Linda Grahamnasty who worked with Hillary and Barky to set the middle east on fire with their Libya and Syria meddling..

He also is part of the Cabal that railed in the Senate Caucus against Cruz.

Rubio is a used car salesman. He’s polished up the old Edsel the RINOs drove McCain and Romney to the dance on and is trying pawn it off on us as a Lexus.

Christy is referring him to as the “Boy in the bubble”, because the press is pushing and protecting him and he refuses to answer the questions asked of him. :)

Dondi is in for a rough week. Perhaps he can fly in Schumer to campaign for him.

Yep. Hedging his bets, so as not to be shut out from anyone who wins?

Rushie will be wearing his straightened up big boy pants tomorrow after reading comments here. Like I said every time he gets married, he gets stupid.

Nope, not an establishment moderate—he’s a hard-core establishment whore. You’d think he was still in a Cuban trailer park chasing after $100 bills the way he jumped into bed with the enemy.

All the folks who helped launch him figure we loaded too much powder: it appears he left his brains here in FL, while his heart ended up in DC and his integrity has never been found.

My concern is that when the “establishment” gets through throwing money and other stuff at Rubio .. will he cave ??

Maybe I’m wrong .. but I’m concerned about it. The GOP-e and the left have been pushing Rubio into being the 2nd in command in the WH; where Rubio would be in a perfect position to tell stuff (supposed to be secret), join forces with some in Congress, and generally make Ted’s presidency a nightmare.

I heard Rush today, and I don’t know where he’s coming from on Rubio.

I plan to vote for trump. Cruz Carson my other two choices. Rubio is the only other candidate I would consider voting for. The rest??? I will stay home and not vote for the first time in my life. If its Rubio vs Hillary, I will chose Rubio. Bush, Kasich hell no.

None of the other issues matter if Rubio gives the Democrats a permanent majority with amnesty.

Rubio is a backstabber.

Never give more knives to backstabbers

Amnesty is national suicide

You’ll have to do that without me

We agree on that. I have said that Cruz’s ascent is merely the first act in a Rubio bait and switch.
