Limbaugh: Trump Lost Iowa Because He Attacked Cruz 'Like A Liberal Democrat'
The Daily Caller ^ | February 2, 2016 | Christian Datoc

Posted on 02/02/2016 11:18:23 AM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh said Tuesday that Donald Trump lost the Iowa caucus because his criticism of Ted Cruz made him sound "like a liberal Democrat."

"I don't think Trump skipping the debate had a thing to do with what happened last night," began Limbaugh. "This is a Republican primary. It's Iowa. Conservatives win in Iowa."

"Donald Trump, I don't know if you forgot - one thing that everyone remembers - he went out and tried to criticize Ted Cruz," explained the talk-show host.

"Ted Cruz isn't the enemy," he continued. "Hillary Clinton is the enemy. Ted Cruz is not a nasty guy. Ted Cruz is not a Canadian."

"Nobody is going to believe that, especially when you offer that criticism sounding as though it could come with Bernie Sanders. In a Republican primary, you do not win if you're going to sound like a liberal democrat criticizing Ted Cruz."

Trump called himself an Evangelical in Iowa. And started carrying around a Bible, like Bill Clinton.

I sense that El Rushbo just might be leaning toward Ted Cruz. (Don't know, it's just a guess. Perhaps wishful thinking on my part?)

One thing that should be said, and kept in mind, is that Rush has been extraordinarily, almost over-the-top in his fairness to Mister Trump. And, I appreciate that as it shows objectiveness.

Rush is absolutely right.

Whether people want to vote for Cruz or not, most conservatives respect him as a genuine conservative. Nasty attacks against him are going to rebound against the person doing it, particularly if they're attacks from a left-leaning perspective. And "doesn't have a heart" is a classic leftist attack.

Still think he's the favorite even though he's not my preferred candidate.

I didn’t turn Rush on today but I hear that he’s pumping Cruz & Rubio and tearing down Trump.

I did turn on Rush and he wasn't tearing down Trump at all, he expects Trump to win very big in New Hampshire, and he put the best possible spin on interpreting Trump's tweet about spending his own money on campaign not being worth it. Rush mainly appreciates that the pundits were off base.

I like Rush, but can’t agree with him here. Cruz won because he had the best ground game in Iowa. He just outworked Trump.

Cruz got 8 delegates.

Trump got 7.

Rubio got 6.

Cruz got 50,000 or so votes. Good for him.

On to New Hampshire. Then SC.

Huckabee, Santorum, Cruz. What do they have in common?

The proper question is Huckabee, Santorum, Trump - what do they have in common. The answer is they all three attacked Cruz like liberal Democrats and all three got rejected by voters at the last minute because of it.

And your analogy above? Very flawed. I'll wait a while before embarrassing you.

“Trump supporters have been bashing anyone that does not support Trump as GOPe”

And Cruz people have been bashing everyone not backing Ted as being bought off, fake conservatives, unfaithful Christians, cultists, and as closet liberals.

Trump sounded like a liberal Democrat?

Trump IS a liberal Democrat. It was about a year ago at best that he began positioning himself to pick up the Perot style suckers out there.

Not sure what Cruz would say, but I would imagine something not mandated by government, but rather an insurance market that offers affordable health care options. High deductible options now banned by government. Plus Medicaid, Medicare and the variety of free options already available by government before Obamacare reared it’s ugly head. It’s not the Federal government’s job to make people buy insurance. It’s up to the market and the states to do it and let people chose their own or choose not to buy at all.

Cruz has said a lot of things I agree with ... but when he says he will repeal every word of Obamacare, I don't believe him.

I don't disagree with you. But when Trump says he wants single payer. I believe him.

My step-father, a Trump supporter for months, stopped supporting him last week.

Why? He heard from Mark Levin that Trump wanted to make deals with Pelosi and Schumer.

You think you are a bright guy. Rather than calling me a Marxist, explain how Cruz is going to fix Obamacare after it is repealed. I have not heard his explanation.

How do you insure the uninsurable who will lose their coverage.

“be happy we have two guys who are not the establishment,”

Trump is not establishment. But I see Cruz as part of the establishment as much as Rubio is. We’ve seen instances where the PTB have successfully manipulated both of them to stray from their alleged conservative stances and cast bad votes.

Two reasons I won’t vote for Cruz:

1. After a very bad vote, he rationalized by saying he believed Mitch McConnell. For Heaven’s sake WHO, in his right mind, would EVER believe Mitch McConnell?

2. He blatantly lied in a campaign ad against Cruz.

Plus, the ick factor creeps me out. That wouldn’t keep me from voting for him, but just... eeewwww.

You have to admit that Trump should never say he likes and can make deals with Pelosi and Reid. It shows he doesn't understand our fury after all.

Rush awakes from his seven month slumber.........Trump’s been doing some stuff like this from the beginning...but Rush Trumpbaugh refused to see it. His brother David tried to warn him. His buddy Andy McCarthy and Mark Levin tried to warn him. For some reason, Rush has been blind for months.
