Trump lends campaign nearly $11 million
The Washington Examiner ^ | February 1, 2016 | Al Weaver

Posted on 02/01/2016 1:15:54 AM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump raised $13.6 million in the fourth fundraising quarter, according to the campaign's filing with the Federal Election Commission.

Trump, who often boasts about that he is self-funding his campaign, loaned his campaign $10.8 million, leaving his operation with nearly $7 million in cash-on-hand.

The campaign reported that it spent nearly $7 million during the fourth quarter alone. It raised $2.6 million beyond Trump's loan. Most came from small dollar donations.

The campaign owes $12.6 million to Trump himself.

The filing shows that the Trump campaign spent nearly $500,000 on hats, primarily on the red caps featuring the popular slogan "Make America Great Again."

The real estate mogul's filing comes less than 24 hours before the Iowa caucuses, where Trump holds a slight lead in polls over Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas.

Trump is much more electable than Cruz. Cruz is much more principled than Trump. That's the way it is in politics for the most part. I'm willing to roll dice, either on Cruz avoiding getting squashed by Hillary or by Trump squashing Hillary but then getting "pragmatic" and selling conservatives down the river. They are both good candidates for different reasons.

I agree. I’m not a fan of Cruz as of late, and he’s done more than a few things in office that I’m unhappy about, but I’ll still vote for him in the general, because he’s at least an order of magnitude better than everyone else in the field but Trump.

Obviously funny that you fully recognized who I meant with the “HEIL”.., and since you perceive that FACT, you would naturally want to study the history of whom the REQUIRED HEIL was applied in the first place....

I was a big supporter of Cruz for many years up until TPA. Now he’s going real authenticity problems, IMO. “Principled conservatives” do not enable the most lawless POTUS in history as Cruz did on TPA.

Cruz was all GOPe up until the 2010 TEA revolution. Now that I review things it appears to me Cruz is a careerist looking out for himself and not us. That means on the big issues like trade & immigration he will be GOPe/big donor all the way.

I do not agree that Trump is “more electable.”

Hillary and the DNC have too much public information and videos of Trump - about his support and praise for her and the Dems, and his “antics” that make me disagree with you on that.

>>“Damn our principles and values, as long as we win!!!”

If that was the case, we would have voted for Obama or got behind Jeb in the early days of this election. Most Trump supporters started out as Cruzies, just like you. But, Cruz lost us because he failed in the most crucial skill that a chief executive needs: leadership. No amount of childish insults or insinuation that we are all deep cover moles for the Progs is going to change that. If Cruz wants to beat Trump, then he better damned well start working on beating Trump and you need to focus your anger at his failure to motivate.

so, a trump entity lends the campaign entity $11 million

when the campaign doesn’t repay the note secured by good will, the lending entity writes it off as a bad debt business expense

corporations are handy things to have around

Trump’s been buying politicians all of his career. His accountants should be experts at tracking money given to political campaigns by now....

Trump said he would self-fund the nomination, and he has, except for “solidarity” donations from small donors and his very popular gear being for sale. (I’m in for one tee-shirt and $20 for the Veterans fund). He never even asked for them, and seemed embarrassed that people did that.

Trump’s not a stupid businessman. Because of federal matching funds, wouldn’t it be a foolish financial move to not accept campaign donations?

One of Trump’s strongest campaign arguments is that. Many of the others are wasting incredible amounts of donor cash, while he has managed his campaign financing very wisely.

Thanks, grania....your educated reply deserves repeating.

Thanks for posting this, CW....it shows that Trump is a man of his word....he’s self-financed his primary campaign, all but for the small, individual donations he’s received.

Go Trump!!
