In an interview this morning on This Week, Donald Trump cited his desire to "help people" as the reason he favors government-funded universal health coverage. Unlike Ted Cruz, Trump said, "I have a heart."
"If somebody has no money and they're lying in the middle of the street and they're dying, I'm going to take care of that person," Trump said.

Medicare should be abolished on a timetable that protects existing recipients and soon-to-be retirees. It’s never going to be solvent, and has been a bad idea since 1964.
Trump’s comment about Cruz .. well .. it just PETTY, juvenile, and quite frankly .. I think I’ve had enough.
I started with Cruz .. and I’m going to stick with him. I don’t want a name-caller for President.
Now that the ELITES of the Republican party have joined Trump, this is where all this petty behavior is coming from. I’ve heard McConnell, McCain, etc. say the same things about Cruz .. so that’s where it’s coming from.
If ANYBODY thinks Trump will be running the show .. you need to rethink that. The ELITES have already taken over.
Even if Trump ends up being the nominee .. I’m not convinced he’s the right person.
Cruz does not need Trump to GOVERN as President .. but Trump DOES NEED CRUZ, AND CRUZ’s KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL RE THE CONSTITUTION .. IF Trump really does want to “Make America Great Again”.
Believe me when I say this: If Trump does win the Presidency, and he does not take Cruz as his VP, the ELITES WILL EAT TRUMP ALIVE AND CONTINUE TO TEAR THIS COUNTRY APART.
And .. if you don’t agree with me .. oh well; get over yourself.
“”If somebody has no money and they’re lying in the middle of the street and they’re dying, I’m going to take care of that person,” Trump said.”
We already do. It’s called an emergency room and we are already charged on our insurance premiums to support indigent care.
I saved links to Trumps interviews on this because I knew this iaaue would be resurfacing over and over by those who have agendas like National Review.
I agree with that.
Medicare is not bankrupt. For everyone over 65 complaining about universal healthcare, you love what you have.
“So what?
He made it absolutely clear this is NOT SINGLE PAYER.”
Trump is for UNIVERSAL healthcare, which is a step (closer) to the full blown single payer. Btw, hitlery is also against single payer, so this makes Trump and Hillary on the same boat... a nasty PROGRESSIVE boat.
Hey, you signed a month ago. Hope you are not a libtard agitator.
I am not familiar with tori are.
Exactly.
If he's will to go after the big drug companies ala Hillary and Bernie and force those payment streams into the Medicare system then he's willing to expand it.
He's telling you here that he doesn't want to end it, he wants to modify it. You can keep Universal Health care intact and not go Single Payer.
“Medicaid
>does not change
>didnât change under Obamacare”
O’dumbass added about 20 million MORE to it!
That was my take from the GS interview this AM. It sounded more like people would get the money for care they needed but couldn't afford, and not have the insurance companies or gov between them and the care they receive.
That would be great. Along with it, why not go back to a clinic setup? Clinics provide care on an ability to pay scale and force other providers to offer competitive pricing.
Auto correct mutilated “tricare” there.
For people below a certain income level and who qualify. And that's putting the problem back on the states since they provide much of the funding.
Medical Insurance should be purchased like Auto Insurance....at a local Insurance store such as All State or State farm (for example). It should not be offered through work as a benefit. We got into that system during WW II and it was a mistake.
A person should be able to purchase insurance for whoever he wants, regardless of age, relationship, or whatever. It’s between the insurance company and the buyer who and what is covered....not your employer or the government. If I want to cover my family and the person next door that’s my business alone.
The lower end earners will need to be subsidized because it is insane to deny anyone health coverage because they don’t have the money. A sick human being who needs help will be helped. Extremely poor people will get health coverage for free. If they make money down the line, they will be required to take out a loan and pay the expenses back. People who can afford to pay for health insurance but, choose not to have it will be forced to take out a loan and pay back every last dime if they get sick or injured. Illegal immigrants should be helped to a minimum necessary level for the sake of humanity and then deported.
The VA hospital should be closed and veterans given a voucher to go to whatever Doctor or hospital is most convenient with the Feds picking up the tab. They are veterans...not wimps and armchair Generals like most of the rest of us...and should be treated as such.
This is how it should be in a capitalist society...that also acknowledges reality. We’ll see what Trump does, but I had no problem with his comment today. Everyone else in politics has proven they are idiots....especially Obama.
National Review, now it’s only 24 hours when Trump wins Iowa going away. Your much biased machinations are going to be useless.
Universal heath coverage is not an evil concept. Its an expensive concept. If Trump can figure a way to make it work would you still not want it?
That’s my point. It’s already there. Universal health coverage for the poor already exists.
Single payer is now inevitable, whatever any candidate believes, says, or promises.
Awwww, and there it is.
And let me guess, all the Trump supporters are touting this as a great thing. YAY, we all have a right to healthcare. Right?
When
a) universal healthcare not healthcare - it is insurance for said healthcare, which in and of itself, does ot guarantee health “care”.
b) universal healthcare is socialism
c) the government should have no business whatsoever in any healthcare or insurance for healthcare
d) how is this different than Obamacare?
And people STILL think he’s a conservative? It’s beyond amazing to me, that he is coming out every day with a new “liberal”/”progressive” ideal on his agenda, and they STLL excuse him and accept him as this great savior. Maybe he is right....maybe he could shoot someone in the middle of NY and they’d still support him.
As well, they refuse to see the absolute positive similarities between Obama 2008 and Trump 2016. God save us from repeating history.....AGAIN!
