Trump Shows Off Family Bible, Touts ‘Christian Values’

"I really appreciate the support given to me by the evangelicals. They've been incredible. Every poll shows how well I'm doing with them," Trump says in the ad, filmed from what appears to be his office in Trump Tower.

"And, you know, my mother gave me this Bible, this very Bible, many years ago," he added, holding up the holy book to the camera.

"In fact, it's her writing, right here. She wrote the name and the address, and it's just very special to me."

The billionaire businessman closed the 30-second spot by vowing he would never let the evangelical community down.

"And, again, I want to thank the evangelicals. I will never let you down," he said.

I wonder why the family bible is only 2 generations? My family’s bible is at least 5 generations and there are additional notations for the 6th generation before my own.

Sadly, although I support Trump, he sounds dumb as a box of rocks when he makes reference to a family bible as apparent proof he knows anything in it. His knowledge of any Scripture likely could less than most 5 year olds.

The Bible was a mother’s gift to her son. Two generations.

At least he clearly holds it in esteem, so there’s hope for Christians there. He’s not just toting it around for the cameras like Clinton, it means something to him even if his understanding isn’t quite what it could be.

Yes I know, but if it was the family’s Bible, why was it started by Trump’s mother? an American family should be somewhat older that.

My family’s was started in 1840. Maybe his family has only been here two generations.

I’m just curious about it.

Donald Trump needs to understand one of the most important of Christian values. Humble yourself before God.

Donald Trump has twice said he does not need to ask God for forgiveness. He is wrong. He must confess his sins and ask God to forgive him in Jesus name.

None of us are perfect or without sin. God offers us all salvation through Jesus Christ even though we do not deserve it. For his own sake, I pray Mr. Trump realizes this soon and carries it out. He needs God just like the rest of us.

"If I told the real stories of my experiences with women, often seemingly very happily married and important women, this book would be a guaranteed best-seller..."

"Beautiful, famous, successful, married; I've had them all, secretly, the world's biggest names."

At least he kept the Bible his mother gave him.

He’s a sinner as we all are. How long ago did he write that?

It was a personal Bible...not a family Bible that he had.

I believe his mother was an immigrant.

Again, it wasn't the family Bible he was holding. He might have an older family Bible.

Beyond that, he comes across as a complete idiot who thinks waving a Bible around is actually evidence of any religious inclinations on his part at all. Who the heck does this sort of thing? LOL.

I pray so, too, whatever happens election-wise. Much has been given to him and much will be required. That goes for all of the candidates.

He doesn’t need to be saved, he said so and he’s always right.

Just eat the cracker and move on.
