GOP frontrunner Donald Trump took to Twitter to “thank the evangelical Christians for the warm embrace [he’s] received on the campaign trail.â€
In his appeal to the evangelical vote just two days before the Iowa caucus, Trump posted a video on Facebook where he holds his mother’s Bible and also thanks the evangelical voting block for keeping him high in the polls.
“I really appreciate the support given to me by the evangelicals — they’ve been incredible,†Trump said in the video. “Every poll says how well I’m doing with them.â€
He adds, “My mother gave me this Bible — this very Bible — many years ago.â€
“It’s just very special to me and again I want to thank the evangelicals. I will never let you down,†he vowed.

I don’t know what Cruz is doing. The world doesn’t revolve around him.
Next he’ll make a cross of stones on a beach somewhere. Ahh, the 90s. Say, did Trump give to the Clintons back then too, or is that a more recent thing?

Trump probably shouldn’t make a blanket promise like that. It’ll probably be impossible to keep, because there will be some issue that evangelicals don’t agree on, and one side or the other or both will end up feeling like Trump let them down.
But still it’s nice to see Trump acknowledge and express gratitude to the evangelicals and to promise his support of their issues.
Playing the Bible card is not good.

As a fellow NYCer, I can tell you it’s hard for him to not die laughing when he says this stuff, knowing it’s going to be believed.
it got me mad at first, because I think Cruz is the true conservative, but he’s doing such a great NYC con that I can’t help but be proud!
Well I could rip into Trump for his Bible politicking schtick but I better check in my own mirror first for that hypocrite of sorts looking back at me.
Cruz plays the bible card daily...he goes full canadian televangelist some days...
